Abraxix92 Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Honda Cbr 125:Hello again guys, fixed the battery problem now onto something else.Recently 2 days ago i fueled up and rode home after another interview, after 10-20mins of riding the bike diden't sound the same it seem's quite "farty" normally the engine sounds good and quite sporty but i've come to the conclusion it sounds quite alittle bit like a CG while accelerating.now it does sound how it normally does but while accelerating after switching gears you can hear a "farty" noise until it hit's really high RPM it's not massively noticeable, but once you ride the same bike for a year you seem to be able to tell the slightest difference. Now i've changed oil last night, so that's crossed off, i've checked the whole exhaust system no holes. thats when i noticed i filled up then it started, could that be the case? Quote
Adam Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 It could be the oil rather than the fuel, generally all fuel is the same however I find supermarket fuel gives less mpg so I fill up at BP. Did you put the correct and correct amount of oil in? Tyre pressures okay? Quote
Abraxix92 Posted May 3, 2014 Author Posted May 3, 2014 oil changed and levels all good, tyre pressure is all checked and put in bassically did a mini service last night to try find the problem. Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 if the garage was getting very low on fuel then yes it could of possibly been crap fuel but that doesnt happen very often if you now have room in tank to fill up again go to different garage and fill up see how it is then Quote
TC Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Refil and go for a blastIf that doesn't clear it check all hoses are correct and no splits in them Quote
cockercas Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 My dad had to get rid of his van last year, driving along and it would just cut out, leave s few min and it would start again. Took the fuel filter out and it was full of black gunk. Replaced, run fine for a week started doing the same thing, checked fuel filter and it was black again. He told his mate at fishing who said he had had the same thing on a brand new van so took it to vaxhall and they emptyed the tank of crap and asked him if he had been filling up at morrisons, acording to them morrisons fuel is full of crap. My dad had been filling up at morrisons to. Quote
Mr Fro Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 This is why I only ever fill up at my local independent - they're always busy.High turnover of fuel = less crap in the tank. Quote
Abraxix92 Posted May 4, 2014 Author Posted May 4, 2014 ill make some fuel go down tomorrow and refuel what ever space there is, this could be the problem though for it been suddenly sluggish? Quote
Abraxix92 Posted May 4, 2014 Author Posted May 4, 2014 filled up with another half of petrol, went for a 10min drive with that, seemed the same still, everything else is all fine including wires etc! Quote
cockercas Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Did you drain your tank? Really if you think its bad fuel you shoud drain and clean any crap out of the tank/fuel valve and lines. Quote
cockercas Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Re reading your post, except for the noise do you have any other syptoms? Sluggish/itermitant power/hard to start. If its just a noise your probaly paranoid, happens to us all. A couple of rides ago i came home early because i was focused on a noise comming from mybike, its nothing. It Just gets stuck in your head. Quote
Joeman Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Does bad fuel really exist?Fuel comes from the same refineries, and I doubt anyone deliberately adds crap to their fuel, which leaves the only possible source being the storage tanks and pumps.I'd be amazed if suppliers had enough crap in their tanks to block up individual car fuel filters. If they block one, they should surely block every car that filled up from there, and if this happened it would be a PR nightmare as the vendor would be liable for the repair of thousands of cars... Has this ever actually happened?? Quote
cockercas Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Happened at tescos at market weighton. **cked alot of car engines and tesco was liable. That was water in the fuel though. Morrisons is due to the high bio content apparently. Quote
Abraxix92 Posted May 5, 2014 Author Posted May 5, 2014 Yes it feel's quite a little more sluggish, especially on hills! by the love of god it's still not as bad as a scooter going up a hill though so can't complain too much except it diden't use to happen Quote
cockercas Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 If you think its fuel drain and clean the tank and clean the lines. Do you have a fuel filter? Replace it if you do.Drain tank into something clean and clear.Crap fuel is only good for fires. Quote
Abraxix92 Posted May 9, 2014 Author Posted May 9, 2014 not sure how to do all that to be honest!Regardless took the bike apart again fairing wise, checked oil and it's LOW again, i only filled it up the last week today!filled it up again, will let it cool and then check dipstick again, urgh doesnt sound good eh? :/ Quote
Chrissb6 Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Very rare that fuel can get you that contaminate in such a short time l have to say. Are you sure that farting noise you say you have is not an exhaust or inlet leak? Either will make this noise and drop off your power. Quote
Abraxix92 Posted May 9, 2014 Author Posted May 9, 2014 Doesnt seem like exhaust problem, but post above you states i could be losing oil! Quote
Chrissb6 Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Ok If you think you loosing oil l would suggest you first take a look at your spark plug and what state it's in.Here's a reference to help you, check yours against the oil fouled plughttp://www.jagexp.com/article/xj-spark-plugs.html Quote
Abraxix92 Posted May 9, 2014 Author Posted May 9, 2014 great condition, pretty much brand new had it 3months max. Quote
cockercas Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 Fill it back up and park it on some paper. If theres no oil then you dont have a leak. If your bikes burning it then get the bike warm and put your hand in the exsaust gasses and sniff your hand. If its burning oil you will smell it. Tgere should be some smoke anayway. Are you air or water cooled? Quote
Abraxix92 Posted May 14, 2014 Author Posted May 14, 2014 needs water coolent, sorry been busy week with interviews and job negations. Not sure why i diden't do this, but i put my hand over the exhaust to stop the flow, it doesn't cut out whatsoever, took it to a few garages all say it's exhausted related lost trust in my old garage big time!So need to order a new exhaust! Will keep thread posted.
