Tankbag Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 I was on about this some time ago, anyhoo, the mod will be a glovebox ( quite a bit on tinternet about these ) but I want to fit a rear facing camera looking out through a clear window fashioned to the hump. So technical challenge one is how to fit a clear cam lens sized window to the rear of the hump, as the hump is curved its not as easy as I thought, which is where you good TMBF members come in Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 make a wooden block to the shape you need it to be as a mold then clear perspex sheet warmed up and pressed over mold sorted Quote
Grumpy Old Git Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 OK....First: Tightly wrap the hump with one layer of clingfilm.Second: Using a paper mache mix, cover the rear of the hump ensuring that you have completely covered the area that you need to put the 'window' in including a reasonable overlap (1cm max) and allow to set (dry).Third: Carefully remove the 'mold' and replace the cling-film (inside the mold) if damaged.Forth: Using a high-grade polymer clear plastic sheet (available from good model-maker shops or t'internet) and a hair dryer (for heat application) gently heat the film and push into the mold until a near-perfect fit is achieved.Fifth: Allow to cool and remove from the mold.Sixth: Trim edges to give the correct amount of overlap to allow fitting into the hump.Voila! Tankbag Posted July 11, 2014 Author Posted July 11, 2014 I'm going with GOG suggestion, part 1, I've procured a second hump for modifications, next is mould production but i'm going to use cling film & plaster of paris. Quote

Tankbag Posted July 15, 2014 Author Posted July 15, 2014 What's attracted you to the Sony?(Besides price)My oppo bought 1 for a Germany trip this year, I liked the wifi link to your smartphone to show realtime cam view plus settings change via the app, the image quality was pretty good for a 2meg device & the colour representation was outstanding. Microphone quality & range was good too & it is the right price, lowest untill now was 129 Quote
