Rear end feels like it is coming round

Hey,

When cornering the rear wheel feels like it is trying to come round, not slip or slide, just like it is trying to pull the back of the bike round to the front. So when I'm leaning right the rear wheel is trying to move out to the left and forwards towards the front of the bike... I hope this makes sense as it is a little hard to explain.

A buddy of mine (without me prompting) said he felt the same thing.

Tyre pressures on the bike are fine.

I was wondering if too much travel in the suspension would cause this? or is it something else?

Cheers.

Welcome to TMBF mate......pop over to the Newbies section and introduce yourself to the guys and gals when you get chance..... 8-)

What's the condition of your tyres? Squared off rear tyre or the front with the shoulders worn can make the bike feel strange in corners..... 8-) You could also check the condition of the bearings....headstock, wheel & swingarm bearings can also affect the handling.... 8-)

Others, that have or had a cbr600 will probably give you better answers than these....

And that the rear wheel is in alignment!

Tyres are fine.

Thanks for the pointers I'll start to work my way through them.

I'm sure the wheel alignment is fine as the "shop", had the tyre off recently but I'll be sure to check it.

I would be looking at the rear shock

take the suspension back to stock settings but while doing so adjust it to soft and bounce it then all the way to hard and bounce if there is no difference or little difference then your shock will be shafted

I would agree with Stu - check the rear shock.

When I first got my ZZR600 it felt like the rear wheel was trying to overtake the front wheel everytime I took a corner. The rear didn't slide, or lose traction at all, just that weird feeling in the gut that the back wanted to be in the front. My mate said pop it down and I'll sort it. He wound the rear shock off a bit, it was set much too hard for me, and now it feels good. I feel more confident and don't have the sensation that the rear wheel want to overtake!

I'm still an inexperienced rider, only been riding since Christmas, but I am starting to 'feel' when something isn't right.
