Guest
Hi there,There is a hole in the front exhaust down pipe of the varadero 125 I have just purchased. Currently it has been fully sealed with gum gum and looks fine. I got a price on the pipe and its £300 fitted from the dealer! Will it be fine as it is?Cheers,Garthunkle
cyberwolf
is a hole from rust or is a drain hole
Guest
I'm new to motorbikes so if you could explain the difference that would be great. However I would presume it is from rust.
Guest
The gum wont last, you would be better finding a local car garage to braze or weld it up for you.
Voodoo
The gum goes brittle, but the exhaust expands with heat and contracts when its cold, so the gum won't last. If its a drain hole it'll be right at the bottom of the exhaust and it'll be perfectly round!
rennie
you should be able to get a new pipe a lot cheaper than that, shop around, price from a dealer is probably for a genuine spare, non genuine or "pattern" parts are normally cheaper. Guest
Not fine as it is, like the others said, but thats a stupid quote for a replacement, I paid less for my car exhaust.Have a looksies for buying your own exhaust (make sure it'll fit that model!) and then take bike and exhaust to a garage. Will probably work out cheaper.
