Guest Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 So when I was having it serviced, they called me up and said that to replace the spark plugs, they'll need to replace the stick coils above them, because the only way to get them out is to break them. They then quoted me £80 per new stick coil.Is there any technique to getting these bast*rds out? Or any cheaper alternative aftermarket coils? Thanks Quote
Stu Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 yes they just pull off they are having your pants down tell them to piss off and find someone else to do the work Quote
Stu Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 look at these for sale http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SUZUKI-GSX650 ... 0736930316they aren't broken Quote
fullscreenaging Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Agree with Stu. They just pull off. Mine are a bast*rd to get off only because there isn't much space to get your hand in, well, there is plenty of space if you have tiny Japanese mechanic hands! Quote
Grumpy Old Git Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 If they can get you to agree to let them break them out, it saves them time (about 45 seconds)!I'd tell them to stick the sticks where the sun doesn't shine! Quote
Joeman Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 How do they intend to get the new ones back in, if they need to break them to get them out?Instruct them to put their tools down, and step away from your bike as clearly they have no idea what they are doing!! Quote
Chrissb6 Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 They lifting your leg Mate looks as easy ashttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GA4mafKilH8If it's as easy as this video they need reporting Quote
Guest Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 They never changed the plugs. They said that they won't bother this time unless I want to pay the ridiculous amount. They also said that I can freely buy some replacements from ebay and have them fit them.So they weren't dickheads about it. Quote
Chrissb6 Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 (edited) Well l wouldn't trust them again if there bottling just to change the plugs. They might of been unlucky to have one coil unit stuck, but to say they got to break the lot out well!! Edited February 3, 2015 by Chrissb6 Quote
Guest Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 No I'm not going to go with them again. They even cocked my MOT up.They entered 60000 miles instead of 50000. More shit to sort out Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 starting to sound like they need naming and shaming to make others beware about using them Quote

Guest Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 LOL I've just seen this thread. They have to break them to get them out!? BAHAHAHAHA!!! What a bunch of redneck cowboys lol. When were they last changed? Today's spark plugs are good for about the mileage your bike is now and then some. Probably don't even need to be changed I'd imagine so no biggie... Quote
Guest Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Last changed 15000 miles ago. Previous owner didn't get the plugs changed on the service. Not going to name and shame since I was recommended by a friend who couldn't fault them. Quote

Stu Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 If they are standard plugs get them changed You maybe lucky and they might last you maybe unlucky and they may go down and leave you stranded I have known plugs to die after only 10k Unless they are iridiums and they will be fine Quote
Guest Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Thanks guys.I'll take it to my trusted mechanic when I next go back to Yorkshire Quote
Guest Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 The mechanics called me back today (a week late) regarding the wrong mileage on my MOT.Instead of sorting it out, he gave me a name and a number (VOSA) to call.Quite tempted to name and shame the bast*rds Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 well make sure you file an official complaint with vosa about the garage because if they have had other complaints they will do lightning check on them and watch them mot all day long or send a set up bike in Quote
Chrissb6 Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Well if it was me l would make those idiots sort it out. Let them explain themselves to the DVLA. If you do it you saved them the embarrassment. Don't want to scare or stir it up any further but are you completely satisfied that your bike is all good? Can you be absolutely sure these cocks have not overlooked something that requires attention? Quote
