Swopping out the rear wheel bearings today and noticed that the cushdrive rubbers are quite loose in the casing. How loose is too loose? Is there a 'test' I could do?

The rear sprocket shouldn't move relative to the wheel.......if it can rotate slightly within the rear wheel you probably need new cush drive rubbers.....

I shimmed my Fireblade ones with some 1mm thick aluminium. Never had a problem since and done 5 trackdays.

Kawasaki ones are notoriously slack from standard.

If you look on the sprocket carrier, there will be 5 lugs that knit into the rubbers when it all fits together.

Slip an old bit of innertube over them.

Packed it out with bits of plastic for time being. Kawasaki has to place an order, two weeks wait.

I've seen a couple of s/hand one on fleabay for £12 but I hate taking the chance that they are just as bad, if not worse than my one!

Still, seems to have sorted it for a a couple of weeks. Bike all back together again :) Can't believe what I've managed to achieve in the past few weeks ... and to think I can barely change a light bulb without a detailed instruction manual! lol
