Phooey Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Swopping out the rear wheel bearings today and noticed that the cushdrive rubbers are quite loose in the casing. How loose is too loose? Is there a 'test' I could do? Quote
Tango Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 The rear sprocket shouldn't move relative to the wheel.......if it can rotate slightly within the rear wheel you probably need new cush drive rubbers..... Quote
Phooey Posted April 8, 2015 Author Posted April 8, 2015 Thanks Tango ... New cushdrive required then Quote
megawatt Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 I shimmed my Fireblade ones with some 1mm thick aluminium. Never had a problem since and done 5 trackdays. Quote
Phooey Posted April 8, 2015 Author Posted April 8, 2015 I could pack it out to take up the slack. Even if only temporary. Quote
GazW Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Kawasaki ones are notoriously slack from standard. If you look on the sprocket carrier, there will be 5 lugs that knit into the rubbers when it all fits together. Slip an old bit of innertube over them.Edit;http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04/08/460fdad3a69d515c350439417075fd96.jpgThem bits, generic photo, Quote
Phooey Posted April 9, 2015 Author Posted April 9, 2015 Packed it out with bits of plastic for time being. Kawasaki has to place an order, two weeks wait.I've seen a couple of s/hand one on fleabay for £12 but I hate taking the chance that they are just as bad, if not worse than my one!Still, seems to have sorted it for a a couple of weeks. Bike all back together again Can't believe what I've managed to achieve in the past few weeks ... and to think I can barely change a light bulb without a detailed instruction manual! lol Quote
Kawamad Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 Not bodging 'top quality alternative maintenance technique' Quote
whitedevil Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 my gpz was terrible for this, i just packed it with an old innertube and it was good for a few years lol Quote
