KrisValentine Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 I was just wondering if anyone has installed windows 10 yet? And if so how alien are you finding it?I'm a die hard windows 7 user but I just took the plunge and it's currently installing. Mainly did it because it was a bit of a challenge to even get it to update! 30minuites of googling and poking through pc settings. I hope all my old games still work. Quote
Stu Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 mine is sat waiting to install I darn't start it now as I have an early start tomorrow Quote
Arwen Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 I've been testing it at work. It's a mash up of Win7 and Win8.1. Perfectly usable in my mind, but know that plenty of my users will freak out about it when we start rolling it out. Pretty much it is what Win8 should have been. Quote

KrisValentine Posted July 29, 2015 Author Posted July 29, 2015 Mines all installed, my anti virus and firewall refuse to work and everything is erroring at me haha. Turned it off...sort it tomorrow Quote
fq-craigus Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 I got a message on the work laptop offering it free but we didnt want to be the guinie pigs and need the lappy for diagnostics Quote
Phooey Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Installed mine and so far everything is working. I am using defender though. Don't see the point of wasting money on other virus software when defender is available for free and is perfectly good.I like the look so far. Win 8 with Win 7 feel. I didn't like loosing the start menu so that is a big plus for me.So after an hour of using it ... happy days. Hopefully happiness will continue Quote

I do however work at a science research place, so we need to be at least familiar with most OS. Trying to replace Lab pc's on Win XP is still an ongoing problem. Software companies hate moving with the times :-/ On the subject of service packs. I'm not sure if they will continue with them. They seem to be changing everything about windows updates and their numbering convention. I'll give it at least 6 months before upgrading my home pcs however Quote
Stu Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Just installed it! First impressions Screen resolution is wrong! That's all I have to report Quote

Stu Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 oh well you will just have to wait them I must say some things are a little quicker one thing I have noticed though is the fan on my laptop is pretty much at full pelt! and its running hotter! I'm hoping its still sorting its arse out and it will calm down! Quote
Matt Strange Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 I didn't get the reminder, I just went to the download page and selcted the option to upgrade. I've also downloaded the iso file and put it on a memory stick to upgrade my desktop if I like how the upgrade goes on my laptop. So far it has been the most trouble free full windows update ever! asharin Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Windows 10 is possibly the best version of windows yet, in my opinion anyway. Quote
oldie59 Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Got Vista at the moment and thinking of upgrading to Windows 10, but wondering if the install will affect all the files I have got on my hard drive? Quote
