Daves1200RT Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 Apologies if this has been addressed here beforeTwo things happened in my life recently , I bought a new one piece leather suit and i got knocked off by a blind car driver on a roundabout ( when i wasnt wearing it )- i'm fine about from i broke my collar bone which seems to have mostly healedThe suit used to go on and off with a bit of difficulty *before* i broke the collarbone but i never got to " break it in"I just cant get into my one piece suit now cos i cant get my left arm much higher than the height of my shoulder so it just wont go on unless my wife helps in which case i cant get it off again when i am out , which can be a nuisance I have tried the leather alteration people in MCN ," can you turn it into a 2 piece ?" and the answer is a firm noSo my last hope is that a cobbler could stretch it . Like it was 5 years old say. My local cobblers are saying no they don't have the kit to do this, i suspect they have never been asked before so before I ebay this £1,000 suit does any one have any thought on maybe a specialist business that could do this ? Or any other suggestions? Thanks guys Quote
Stu Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 Hi and welcome to the forum You may want to consider changing your username from your email address to something else if you do then drop me a private message (PM) as for the suit its a tough one to be honest! have you thought about speaking to the doc/physio to see if they can do anything for the lack of range of movement you have? my mate had a similar problem and with a bit of physio he has more movement Quote
Six30 Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 Lend it to some one for a couple of months.. Let them stretch em for you. Quote
Cpt_Tact Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 Get the suit on and sit in front of the TV for a few hours at a time and that should help break it in then your wife can help you take it off if it gets to uncomfortable. Other than that give it to someone slightly larger (only slightly) and get them to use it for a few outings. Getting in and out of mine involves getting one arm in and then the standing which forces my bad arm down so it never even goes above 90 degrees. Getting out means flapping one arm around until it comes lose then using it to slide the other out. Quote
Tango Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 Yep.....wear it around the house for a while....... Quote
mattycoops43 Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 wait...You'll be amazed how much movement comes back after a brake, it just takes time. Quote
fq-craigus Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 I bought some leather stretcher spray from clarkes, it basically makes the leather more supple in areas you apply it and it works a treat. Get some spray on the shoulders and put the suit on round the house. Also as stu says speak to a physio Quote
littlecat Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 hang it in the bathroom so it gets steamed everytime someone runs a bath, and wear it lots inbetween Quote
Daves1200RT Posted December 22, 2015 Author Posted December 22, 2015 great thanks for all those tips , some totally new to me and yes i need to focus on those physio exercises , thanks again all Quote
