Oasis Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Has anyone tried Nano tips on gloves?http://www.nanotips.com Quote
Guest Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Can't see this taking off. Takes seconds to whip a glove off and plus phones have voice commands now. I never type now I'm just constantly telling my phone to do things. No need to remove your helmet either, and it's quicker. Quote
Arwen Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 I tried something similar (can't remember the name) Cost about £10 a bottle and was useless. When ever the gloves got slightly wet it would come off. Quote

How do you get your phone to do what it's told? Quote

How do you get your phone to do what it's told?Simple, if you're at lights don't get your phone out, nothing can be that much of an emergency and if it is.. Pull over.Plus if you're using earphones most have a button on the wires you can press/hold and give the phone commands. Easier again.I use Siri on my iPhone (obviously had to change it to a male voice, female just done what she wanted [emoji6]), but Andriod & Windows have basically the same setup now too. No excuses really. Quote
Oasis Posted February 29, 2016 Author Posted February 29, 2016 Totally agree on the voice commands, I do that with the driving function on my galaxy S5, works great for phone, text and music. Connected to my bluetooth helmet. The only thing it doesn't recognise is postcode formats. So if you say AA9 6AA the phone translates it too AA 96 AA and then can't find that destination. But your right, if I do need to enter a postcode I can just pull over and whip the glove off. Quote
Joeman Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 No need to press a button. Just say "ok Google" and give your android device instructions to follow. As for post codes, just give it the street name and area. Let Google work it out. Quote

Good shout, don't new iPhone 6's have a similar feature? Only time my iPhone 5 uses "Ok Siri" is if it's plugged in to a power supply [emoji22] Quote

It depends, texts & phone calls, no, if you've saved a route into your google maps and downloaded it so its "available offline" no.Anything else, yea Quote
Joeman Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 I think the voice recognition is processed in the cloud so even with a local copy of the maps you may still need internet for "OK Google" to work... Don't know, try it. Switch on flight mode and see. Quote
Oasis Posted February 29, 2016 Author Posted February 29, 2016 Ok google is ok but the samsung car mode is an overlay of this function that works a little better. Sadly as I'm a learner I need to select to avoid motorways in the settings, each time I set a new route. Also you can't add options such as avoid motorways, toll roads and ferries if your using a downloaded map in offline mode.I have direct access to some of the google maps team as I am a Google trusted photographer for the street view program. They said that they have been trying to work out a way for the offline mode to have options and it maybe in a future update. Quote

Full touch screen operation with a thick winter glove. Quote
