Valko Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 I have mounted my new TCOM-SC 800M Interphone Bluetooth helmet intercom headset. I was looking at some other expensive devices, but do I need to pay over £200 for 2 speakers, mic and piece of bluetooth? More than happy. Does exactly what I will ever need and more. I bought it to connect to my Android phone for the sat nav ocassional use once in a month. Apparently I can listen to muisc, do phone calls and even connect to other similar devices as intercom now as well On fleabay its about £29: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/800M-Interphone-Bluetooth-BT-Motorbike-Motorcycle-Helmet-Intercom-Headset-Kit-UK-/281802500620?hash=item419cbcea0c:g:T1IAAOSwEetV-mAH&clk_rvr_id=1013707210398&rmvSB=true" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I got it from amazon though for the next day delivery:http://www.amazon.co.uk/Boblov-Screen-Motorcycle-Intercom-Headset/dp/B016XJE3T0?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; My helmet Shoei NXR have slots for the speakers, means very comfty when you put the helmet on, can you spot where the speaker is:http://farm2.staticflickr.com/1678/26393324535_0bbdba06fa_b.jpgThe mic fits nicely too:http://farm2.staticflickr.com/1513/25788476394_805e520d6d_b.jpgThe kit has clamp (clamps are ugly) and 3M sticker with velcro attached mount pad. I like sticker mounting better, very slim and better looking, also the sticker can be glued exactly where you want it for a better positioning:http://farm2.staticflickr.com/1462/26393307405_09a70cf8b2_b.jpgHere is the bluetooth piece mounted:http://farm2.staticflickr.com/1708/26327092451_8954fe17b1_b.jpgNote from the shooting angle it looks much bigger than it is, its actually pretty slim device no more than half an inch:http://farm2.staticflickr.com/1445/26300957892_cbf3991d2f_b.jpg Quote
Stu Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 for the price of them they work and do the job but the more expensive ones are better although you do pay a premium for the name too! I have the scala rider Q3 and can't fault it well except for the wives mic is playing up but its getting replaced under warranty with no arguments! I have taken phone calls at more than 90 without a problem Quote
Zipster Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 I used one of these regularly - it got cold and wet one winter morning and stopped working but was replaced under warranty and is back on my spare lid. On one trip up into Scotland, the battery was flat after about 12 hours use so be aware for longer trips. I'm now using a Cardo Scala Rider G4 as it's got an FM radio and a matched set for SWMBO's lid, other than that I'd still be using it. Enjoy! Quote
CGD217 Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 Interesting. I have a Shoei NXR and due to the shape of the helmet by Scala Q2 no longer fits, so i've been looking at alternative units. This one is now on the list, let us know how you get on after some time. What's the sound quality like? How loud is it at 70mph? Quote
al_stu Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 I have same sort of thing. Very happy so far. I do find at 70 ish (ahem) speech can be hard to hear sometimes. Also as I have a flip front helmet I don't have a lot of room by my mouth so the mic is pretty much either in my mouth or up a nostril. LolOnly other kind of issue I have as well is no remote volume control for media, so either music is a bit loud at 30, or a bit quiet at 70.I'm pretty sure you can adjust the intercom volume on the fly though. I've not had pillion since last year so not had to worry.Works well with phone for sat nav too.Don't think they're advertised as being waterproof, don't tend to ride in rain so it's not been a concern haha Quote
littlecat Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 we've had a pair of these for 2 years and theyre still going strong Quote
Hoggs Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 I have taken phone calls at more than 90 without a problem I'm assuming thats 90 kph Quote
Guest Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 You'll have to educate me on how you're taking pictures of making things that are only half an inch, look bigger Quote
Epic Earl Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 my friend and I have had a set of these for a bout 3 years, whilst riding on our 125's was perfect for chatting. Now on our bigger bikes, I find converstation difficult anything over 60mph.But for using on its own with my satnav/phone. I can hear very well even with ear defenders in.Thinking it might be time eventually to get a more expensive one, just so we can chat at faster speeds. But all in all a good unit for the price. good luck with it. Aky208 Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 I just purchased this intercom (bought the twin pack). fitted it tonight and will try it out tomorrow. Quote
