Help picking a helmet

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the help so far guys.

I have finally narrowed down a helmet choice to three that have good safety ratings and in my price range. I have an idea on sizes that I need, wondering if anyone has the helmets below or has experience of them so I can pick the one helmet.

:scratch:

So the contenders are

HJC IS17

Shark Skwal or Shark vision r series 2 http://www.firecrestmoto.co.uk/shark-skwal-switch-rider.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

AGV K5

I have the K5, bought it earlier this year.

Overall I like it. It is very comfortable, can easily wear it all day if need be. There is loads of vents and all can be open or closed so you can make it as cold or are warm as you like. The internal sunvisor has came in pretty useful, so has the pinlock.

I do however find it more noisy than my previous Shark S900.

I can't vouch for the other helmets, but very pleased with the HJC IS-17 I purchased just over a year ago. 5* SHARP rated and cost £149.99. Comfortable, vented, pinlock included, and integral sun visor. Excellent for the price, in my opinion. Your best bet is to go to a good dealer and try a few on, though. What's comfortable for one head shape, won't be for another.

Main thing with helmets is ...

Fit ...that's all

Its not the price or the visual aspect or the additional gizmos on it .

If the only helmet to fit you properly is a £35 halfords helmet then that is the best one

Get to a large selection and try them on .ask advice from sales assistant but remember FIT .
