I've been doing the trawls of the local places trying on helmets. LS2, HJC, AGV, Duchini, G-Mac, etc, etc.

So far the one that has been most comfortable was the Shoei Qwest, on 'offer' at £260 at infinity in York. Possibility of there being some offers as they are moving site in Feb/March.

Done some searching and I can get one in silver (maybe a discontinued colour?) for £170.

Any other helmets that fit like the Shoei but for less cost?

I ahve a Qwest, imo, the weight is as important as the fit.

It's a fairly light helmet (compared to cheaper helmets i owned) and that along with the comfortable fit made the difference for me.

Not what you were asking but my 2 pence none the less.

Same here, although I have the NXR instead of the Qwest. I found the lightness is one of the things that make it so comfortable, when compared with my old HJC.

Have a look on LIDS Direct or Sportbikeshop. SBS will normally match any other offer you can find on the internet (there is a link to contact them for a price match on their website) their service is also incredibly good from the dealings I've had. From my experience the only time i've seen big reductions on Shoei Helmets are at the bike shows, perhaps that's something to check out as I believe the one at the ExCel (London) is on in Feb.

My previous lid was a Qwest - really comfortable. Before that I had an HJC, an FS-14 or something like that - long since discontinued. But I usually find HJCs fit me ok. Not as comfortable as the Qwest though.

HJC is the closest in terms of fit that I've found!

i went from Shoei to HJC - we must have the same shaped head!

So did I......I'm happy with the HJC and saved a fortune by not getting another Shoei!

Thanks people.

The HJC wasn't bad, but not very much not as good as the qwest.

Anyway, I've bitten the bullet and ordered the silver Qwest from getgeared.

For anyone interested it looks like only the silver size XL is 'cheap' at £166 and it only comes up if you search for the qwest - if you go through the menus it only seems to offer black or white at higher prices.

You won't regret it! And that price is a bargain. :thumb:

Thanks :)

For anyone else looking for similar fit, my second choice would have been a Held.

I tried the Held Katana which has the sun visor built in and is on offer for only £40 (in blue/black) which just had slight pressure at my temples. I'd guess that a Held without the sunvisor might be a good alternative.
