mpl Posted February 4, 2017 Posted February 4, 2017 Thats right the twats ain't going to change anything, Trump is trying to protect American Citizens , it's not being racist it's common sense , why don't we see the this lot and the peace loving Muslims protesting and condemning like this against the violent ones when they do their mindless acts of violence ... Trump is an easy target and they won't get called racist and Gary Lineaker fook off you twat. You don't see these protests that do actually happen because they rarely get much press space because it doesn't fit with most of the British medias agenda. And as the people who generally spout this read the Mail, Express or the Sun. They certainly aren't going to show Muslims in a good light are they? It's not what their readers want. They want their horrid little views vindicated by reading that immigrants are killing and raping us all, taking all our jobs and all our benefits. Quote
mpl Posted February 4, 2017 Posted February 4, 2017 Trump is trying to protect American Citizens, it's not being racist it's common sense.Err... Unfortunately figures like this are ignored by those whose opinions it goes against. They will believe the Bowling Green massacre that the Trump administration used as a reason for the ban really happened. When you have a government of the worlds most powerful country constantly using bare faced lies to villify a large section of humanity then we are in trouble. They are pushing a white supremacist, racist agenda and those who deny it are very very deluded. Those who try to defend it are even more deluded. Quote

MarkW Posted February 4, 2017 Author Posted February 4, 2017 Trump and Farage both peddle a repulsive brand of lowest common denominator politics, shamelessly gulling the credulous into believing that their brainless bullshit is the unvarnished truth others fear to speak. It was Samuel Johnson who said that patriotism was the last refuge of the scoundrel, and so it is. No matter how intellectually impotent or morally repugnant the stance may be, they just dress it up as patriotism and denounce the detractors as traitors, then sit back in the deluded belief that they've delivered the coup de grace. Tango Posted February 5, 2017 Posted February 5, 2017 Protesting achieves nothing? I think the suffragettes prove that statement wrong.......and more recently the Icelandic people who got their corrupt banksters jailed! Groups like MAG who organise demonstrations to protest against unfair motorcycle legislation are proof that sometimes this action is required to show how strongly groups of people feel about what's going on. The government petition program was started to allow people to directly access parliament to let them know how a body of voting citizens feel about certain subjects......and if enough people support it, then parliament ( who are employed by us) should react to it. You cannot then "cherry pick" what's allowed and what is not. This petition has passed the 1.6 million signatures......which means that there's a pretty good proportion of the electorate that are in support of this proposal.....to ignore it is very undemocratic. BTW.....I assume that those in support of president Chump's visit will be quite happy to chip in to cover the estimated £10m security bill that it's going to require? Quote
Gin Posted February 5, 2017 Posted February 5, 2017 This petition has passed the 1.6 million signatures......which means that there's a pretty good proportion of the electorate that are in support of this proposal.....to ignore it is very undemocratic. My only comment on this, slightly dangerous, thread is that this petition has now been spoken about in parliament and is timetabled for a major review. They won't stop him visiting but there is now a chance that his visit will be downgraded from a state visit, to just a political visit. This means that it's seen with less importance and gives the UK more chance to get to know this new president before giving him the honor of a State Visit. In all honesty I think the Queen just really wanted a chance to give Trump a polite but quick witted piece of her mind She terrified a Sheik before!Yes, I'm aware the Queen doesn't actually issue the invitation for the State Visit and it's more likely PM power plays but still makes me laugh. Six30 Posted February 5, 2017 Posted February 5, 2017 Where is the outrage , protesting and Leftie placard waving on the Trump scale over the fact that Israeli passport holders have been banned and cannot enter 16 Muslim nations?Or any one that has an Israeli stamp on thier passports... the tolerant and welcoming Middle East , no racism there . Especially when we leave the EU America is likely to be our best trading partner etc etc.. So we are "besties" with this country and everything they do reflects on us.. So of course they're going to show more emotion about what America does at this moment in time. I agree that if you're going to fight a point, you need to fight for all but as was said earlier it's hard enough to organise one protest never mind have it then noticed by the media to be give a platform for your point of view. ... MarkW Posted February 5, 2017 Author Posted February 5, 2017 Plus, what Trump is doing in the US is a massively retrograde step, dragging it down to his level of vindictive and ill-informed spite and nastiness. The Middle East, on the other hand, has been beyond the moral pale for as long as I can remember. Quote
Mawsley Posted February 5, 2017 Posted February 5, 2017 Groups like MAG who organise demonstrations to protest against unfair motorcycle legislation are proof that sometimes this action is required to show how strongly groups of people feel about what's going on. Not one single MAG demonstration has changed a single law - every single one was an utter waste of time*. In fact, I'd say blockading the centre of London has had the opposite effect with engendering support for later anti-bike policies. *unless you were Neil Liversidge and got your petrol and Belgian beer paid for from the subscriptions. Mawsley Posted February 5, 2017 Posted February 5, 2017 Sorry I couldn't make my post about Trump, I'm amazed so many people want to talk about him. He's no worse than Bush, Bush or Reagan. Quote

Exactly , so wouldn't you want to make sure your letting the right people in to your country and not ones that want do you harm ...I was referring to their politicians, judges and clerics more than their general population, most of whom emigrate because they don't like it there any more than we would. Anyway, that's a tangent. Trump just doesn't like most foreigners - especially ones who worship the wrong imaginary supernatural being, which is why he hasn't proposed extreme vetting of Christians despite Timothy McVeigh being a Catholic. His travel ban isn't about keeping America safe (he'd do something about the sale of automatic weapons to any nut job who walks into a supermarket if that was his concern), it's about pandering to his own xenophobia and that of the degenerate shit-kickers who voted for him, and who blame foreigners for their own limitless inadequacy. You have to ask yourself how much more likely Muslims living in the US are to be radicalised now they have a president who openly says "we don't like you, we don't want you, and we're going to put you all on a register."
