megawatt Posted April 6, 2018 Posted April 6, 2018 Clutch free play should be 3mm At the handlebar lever. Check it on full lock as well. Quote
megawatt Posted April 6, 2018 Posted April 6, 2018 Not sure why people replace the CCT? Just remove it , clean it , stroke it, refill with engine oil and refit. The tiny oil pressure hole gets blocked up. Quote

That would depend on the type of CCT fitted though As most are a spring and ratchet set up and those that fail is usually due to the spring being weak There has been 3 maybe 4 CCT's for the fjr due to failures with the spring Quote
megawatt Posted April 6, 2018 Posted April 6, 2018 I believe the CBR is mostly operated by oil pressure, though the spring gives extra tension. Quote
Westbeef Posted April 6, 2018 Author Posted April 6, 2018 I'll be replacing mine eventually. If I ever go to the effort of removing it I'm not risking it not work again . It does look a royal pain to access."> Quote

Sorry to bump this again, but I was just looking through my manual and noticed it says there should be a clutch free play of 10-20mm at the lever. It's more like 5mm currently, should I loosen it up or is there a reason to have it less? Quote

megawatt Posted April 10, 2018 Posted April 10, 2018 You should have enough free play so that the clutch is fully engaged whilst riding and not too much that the clutch can't fully disengage when you pull the lever to the handlebar grip. Clutch lever free play is normally measured where the lever touches the perch where the cable is anchored. 3mm there could be 10mm at the end of the lever where the ball is. Quote
