Chrissyleetattoo Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 Ive been building a cafe racer out of a 1982 cb400nIve put a new brake lever and new braided hoses on it i bought some second hand calipers which are in really good condition, ive filled the system with fluid and bled the calipers but my lever still squeezes to the grip, ive nearly pushed a whole bottle of fluid through them and im still getting tiny air bubblesAny ideas whats going wrong? All the fittings banjo bolts etc are new Quote
SlowBusa Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 Tie back the lever over nightBungee strap or anything that works Quote
Chrissyleetattoo Posted May 23, 2018 Author Posted May 23, 2018 I tried that last night after reading about it online didnt make any difference though Quote
megawatt Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 Use a Mity Vac on em. Did mine in ten mins after pumping a litre through them without. Another help is to fit a banjo bolt with bleed nipple to the master cylinder. Quote
Chrissyleetattoo Posted May 23, 2018 Author Posted May 23, 2018 Ive just had a look at the mityvac looks like a decent idea, ive just looked over my lines and one of the banjo bolts doesnt have a copper washer, do you think air is getting into the system? Quote

Could be your problem.....They need the copper washer to seal correctly..... Quote
fastbob Posted May 24, 2018 Posted May 24, 2018 Spongy brakes ? No air in the system ? Dirt behind the caliper seals without a doubt. Remove, clean grooves , replace ( probably don't even need new seals as long as they aren't ripped ) The difference should be like night and day . Quote
