A quick question, does anyone know whether a cylinder BASE gasket , not the head gasket , has to be made from special material or can I get away with cutting out one from standard gasket paper ? This is for my ER5. Thanks.

If the original base gasket didn't have any metal inserts, etc., then you should be OK. Only I don't think cornflake packets are viewed favourably, these days. .... :D


Edited to add: just make sure thickness is the same as OE.....

The OEM ones on my ZXR are steel.
