Fleck Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 A friend wants to ride a 125cc automatic moped with his wife on the back, he has a car licence from the 1970's. I've looked on the government Web site but it might as well be written in Chinese. What test does he need to do? Or module? Thanks Quote
Topper Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 I think he would need a CBT with L plates just for him........... but a Mod 2 to take a passenger? Not 100% sure though to be honest................someone will be along shortly to tell you properly Quote
Chunkypaul Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 Yep....to carry a pillion he will need a full licence..so mod1 and mod 2..Paul Quote
mikestrivens Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 Your friend needs to do CBT, theory test an practical test (mod 1 and mod 2) to get A1 licence to ride up to 125cc. If Test is taken on an automatic bike the licence will be restricted to such. The A1 licence allows you to take pillion and use motorway. Quote
TimR Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 he can ride a 50cc moped without l plates and take a passenger but if he wants to ride a 125cc he needs to follow the relevant flow chart for a1 motorcycle routes-to-your-motorcycle-licence.pdf or for larger bike ( cat a ) Quote
Fleck Posted September 16, 2018 Author Posted September 16, 2018 Thank you all . What are Mod 1 and Mod 2? Are they tests where you ride out with an examiner riding behind you? If so what's the difference? Is one of them theory? Quote
mikestrivens Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 Mod1 is a test to demonstrate manoeuvrings in an enclosed space, eg a car park. Mod2 is the road riding test. Both done with examiner watching. Your friend has to do both to get an A1 licence. In addition the theory test needs to be passed before the practical tests. The CBT needs to be done first. Quote
