Moonraker Posted February 19, 2019 Author Posted February 19, 2019 Have a look around for a secondhand rear caliper.......could well be the cheapest option..... I'll keep this in mind, cheers Ive had no luck with the movement of this valve so before I call the local garage, is this nut/valve thing something that can be removed and replaced? Or is it a case of stuck with it? (Unless the caliper is replaced) Quote
Guest Richzx6r Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 Bleed nipple replacement is probably the easiest brakes job, unless in your case its seized, if it snaps just drill it out and tap the thread and put a new bleed nipple in the caliper Quote
Moonraker Posted February 22, 2019 Author Posted February 22, 2019 Had a chat with a nice chap at Intabikes who mentioned giving the brake bleeding a go via the banjo bolt.I'll look at this over the weekend, but anyone done this before? I'll check my Haynes manual to locate the bolt etc. Quote

Pic to follow. Anyway, it won't work because the banjo bolt on your calliper is lower than the bleed nipple so you will never get all the air out . I'm surprised you haven't got this sorted by now . How about gently putting the nipple in a vice and turning the calliper ? Quote
fastbob Posted February 22, 2019 Posted February 22, 2019 The banjo bolt is right there, where the stalk of your arrow starts . A bleed bolt definitely won't work , it'll get knocked off ! Quote
Moonraker Posted February 22, 2019 Author Posted February 22, 2019 I see, thank you. He definitely said use the banjo bolt to bleed. To be honest, this hasn't been a priority. We've had some DIY to do, visitors and other excuses I could throw up.I'll follow your advice fastbob and see what I can do.I'm grateful, as always. Quote

Don't hesitate to ask if you need more help with this thing . What you could do is give it a squirt of penetrating oil for now . Quote
Piggy Posted February 22, 2019 Posted February 22, 2019 Try PlusGas, its really good stuff. Squirt a bit more on a couple of times a day while its just sitting there. If its really chewed up get a dremel or something on it and grind the gnarly bits off then tap a smaller socket onto it. It will come out one way or another Quote
Mickly Posted February 22, 2019 Posted February 22, 2019 I’m sure there’s an Itchybum video showing how to remove a seized bleed nipple with the aid of 2gm of sulphur, 1 pint of ionised water, an old phone battery and a banana.Or not Quote

Totally badass ! By the way , look what I got as a bonus with my stickers. I can't find a frame small enough for it yet but I shall treasure it always. Edited February 23, 2019 by fastbob Quote
