I bought a 500ml bottle of Rain-X for Plastic; Water Repellent. Bloody expensive but that was the least amount I could buy. Has or does anyone use this and would they recommend it? I gave my visor about 3 applications of this and thought it was quite hard work buffing the milky film off but that could be a good sign that it may be good. I've never normally bothered with visor repellents but thought it was about time to experiment. Just need some rain really :(

I've used this on the screen on my bike and helmet visor for over a year now, I tried other applications but found this to be the best. I find I have to reapply every couple of weeks during the winter, I was returning to Heysham from Kendal last year and got caught in a monsoon, it worked brilliantly, even beaded away the spray from lorries on the motorway, I found that if I was doing a reasonable speed the water just rolled away to the sides of the visor keeping my vision clear, certainly reduced the amount of finger wiping I had to do anyway. Seems to be pretty effective at cleaning the bugs of the helmet during the summer months as well.

That sounds encouraging. If it works well, that 500ml bottle should last a long time. Forecast is for a bit of rain today and over the weekend, so I should be able to try it out. :thumb:

Would be good if you could complete an update, on how you found it during the rain.

I might try it because currently I'm using Nix-wax water reppelent, it's not was good, as in I have to reapply after riding 30 mins in the rain, I'm not impressed.

I have just ordered some Rain-X, I have tried Nikwax which was OK but only OK, we'll see how the Rain-X performs.

Let's get some reviews up once tested!

I copped a shower coming back from work at lunchtime. It performs well (imho). Looks like I didn't waste my money. What I did notice was it gets easier to apply and buff off once all the old visor cleaner crud is taken off. The next test will be how often I have to re-apply it after each soaking. Another thing I noticed; after a ride out yesterday the road kill was a piece of cake to remove just using plain water and kitchen towel. SO :thumb:
