personally im thinking somewhere that serves hot food! :D

aside from that, im up for a good days ride, so where ever people want, just remember that ive got to head back down to north hampshire, to be at work on the monday after :shock:

Borile..... you can get hot food in Matlock Bath.......fish n chips mmmm.

O.K folks this is the route that l hope to follow.

I will give it a run as soon as it fit and give you all some feed back on time and distance, l think it takes most of the good roads and sites around Derbyshire obviously its going to be down to the weather and the like. Judging by this weekends weather, if you've nothing better to do you might want to get the maps out and have a look at the route. if anybody got any ideas or comments please let me know.

As said these are very good roads with views to match. I will do a run and try and sort out a decent place to stop on route for drinks and the like.

Matlock Run:


Starting from Matlock Bath head along the A6 to Cromford


Turn right at the lights A5036 100yrds onto Viagelia A5012

15 miles of nice fast and twisty’s


Turn right onto A515 10 miles to Buxton

Fast Roman Road’, skirt Buxton head due west

Join A53 Leek road past 5 ways café turn right at garage A54 onto Cat and Fiddle road.

Then onto A537 past cat and Fiddle pub on the right

Note: police after pub speed camera’s

Nice and twisty road into Macclesfield. Pass the shops, Stop at the lights turn right dual carriageway half mile through island 1 mile dual carriageway.


Turn right at roundabout to B5470

8 Miles to Whaley Bridge

nice and twisty blind crest etc to Horwich End

A5004 to Furness Vale and Lower Leighton

A6015 to Hay field

Turn Left at Hayfield A624 to Glossop

Turn right at Lights onto Snake Pass to Lady Bower Bridge

20 miles of twisty gorgeous moorland country side roads


Right turn at lights to Bamford onto the lights at garage follow

A625 to Hope

From Hope to Castleton, follow road through Winnates Pass,

Bare left onto A6061 to Sparrow Pit.


Turn left onto A623 for 6 miles to Tideswell then onto B6049 onto Millersdale.

8 miles turn left onto A6 Ashford in the Water

Left turn onto A6020 to Baslow at the Junction turn right into

Chatsworth House Park

Superb country house and parkland

B6012 to Rowsley

Junction turn right onto A6 into Bakewell

Over 3 hours and 111 odd miles of some of Derbyshires finest blacktop, taking in Snake Pass and the Cat & Fiddle 8)

OOOOHHHHH i am so tempted but got to take daughter to bicester sun morn 50 mile bicester to matlock bath 113 mile, ride round 111 mile back to bicester 113 mile, back to home with daughter 50 mile.
