Neil1968 Posted July 16, 2019 Posted July 16, 2019 Hi allJust purchased a Honda Deauville for commuting and a bit of fun but have an issue that I am struggling to resolve. She starts first press every time and ticks over ok, a little lumpy but nothing worse than any other twin I have owned. My problem is that between two and three thousand revs she spits and stutters, after three thousand she runs sweet and accelerates through the gears well for a old bike. I also have a bit of popping on the overrun/deceleration. She has had air filter, fuel pump and filter, new plugs, oil and filter change, and I have balanced the carbs. Still does it! New front exhaust gasket also fitted as the old one was shot. Carbs have been off and stripped/checked and cleaned but were not bad at all. I'm starting to pull my hair out now, well I would if I had any! Anybody got any ideas? Only thing I haven't done yet is valve clearances.Cheers Neil Quote
trcooke Posted July 16, 2019 Posted July 16, 2019 I find it hard to judge the manual choke sometimes on my Transalp (same v-twin), especially in colder weather, and if I get it wrong it'll pop and splutter a bit then settle down after a few minutes. This doesn't really help you though, sorry. Quote
Smithers Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 As you've mentioned In your original post, that's the next place I would go...checking valve clearances. I believe they are the lock nut type which should make the task easy. Quote
trcooke Posted July 18, 2019 Posted July 18, 2019 Put it out its misery ... burn it Now now, play nicely. Quote
