Iamgrh Posted September 10, 2019 Posted September 10, 2019 Hi, I'm new here, long story short, I have been offered one of my dad's old bikes when I go for my full bike license. The problem is, he's lost the logbook and it hasn't been taxed since 1999 (it wasn't SORN) it's been in the shed for 20 years. He's owned the bike since I was around 18 months old (I'm now 30). My question is, will there be a charge for never declaring a SORN? or will it be as straightforward as applying for a new V5 and declaring SORN as of now. It's still going to be off the road while it's being restored. Thanks for your time. Quote
Mississippi Bullfrog Posted September 10, 2019 Posted September 10, 2019 I'd try ringing the DVLA and explain the situation to them. They're often quite helpful on these things. Quote

Iamgrh Posted September 16, 2019 Author Posted September 16, 2019 Go to GOV.UK , everything you need to know is on there . I did have a browse through gov.uk but couldn't really find anything useful in regards to fees for not SORN a vehicle. Quote
Gerontious Posted September 16, 2019 Posted September 16, 2019 SORN began in 1998. But, if you have never received a letter then I doubt very much they will charge a penalty.Give them a call. Quote
