Can anyone identify this bike please

My brother has just passed away and I have come across this pic

I know its a BSA but wondered if its clear enough for anyone to tell me 500cc or 650cc and year or model

it looks like a 650 a10

Swinging arm suspension was introduced to the A10 series in 1954 . The bike in the picture has plunger suspension . Could be an A10 or an A7 ( 650 or 500 ) but there isn't enough detail and both bikes were externally very similar . You won't be able to work out the year from the number plate because the Year Suffix was not introduced until 1963 . Not particularly helpful I'm afraid .

Try sending the picture to the National Motorcycle Museum, if they can't identify it nobody can.

You might have to scan the photo at a higher resolution for more detail for it to be identified.

Thanks very much raesewell for the tip to ask NMM - I did just that and got a reply within the hour - Bike is identified as a 1951 or 52 BSA A7 500cc twin.
