Bender Posted April 9, 2020 Author Posted April 9, 2020 Obviously some dodgy EU funded effort. I think it's literally italy's infrastructure crumbling before their eyes Quote
S-Westerly Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 A result of allowing Mafia linked companies to build public projects and skimp on the materials used plus bribing officials responsible for signing off the construction. Amazing anything is still standing. Quote

Bender Posted April 9, 2020 Author Posted April 9, 2020 I watched a prog about eu fraud and the Mafia had managed to get a couple of million for new drainage system for a poor village that was struggling. The village turned out to be an empty field with no houses or planning Quote

S-Westerly Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 (edited) Apparently at one time a part of Italy was getting EU subsidies for olive trees until someone did the sums and worked out the amount of hectares being claimed exceeded the territory in question by a significant amount. Red faces all round. This is not a dig at the EU bit more the deep seated corruption endemic to southern Italy. Edited April 9, 2020 by S-Westerly Quote
