I drove to Dover for a last year from Wigan and got 36mpg which isn't bad. MPG not bad on the motorway but rubbish around town. Quote

JRH Posted April 18, 2020 Posted April 18, 2020 but a friend had a Jag X type 2 litre diesel as a company car at the same time as I had a mk3 Mondeo 2L diesel Ghia. I ribbed him something rotten about the Jag being a cut down Mondeo, ie no 6 speed box no heated front screen etc. Then I later found out that his company provided the Jag but you could not have a Mondeo ‘cause they were too expensive. skyrider Posted April 18, 2020 Posted April 18, 2020 it is still a lot better than the 72 range rover i had i think it struggled for 14 to the gallon only had it for two months and the last month it was laid up and for sale will never have another one of those money wasters Quote
Guest Richzx6r Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 Need to get the 2l diesel sport, I'm getting roughly 60mpg on m/way journey and around 50mpg round town Quote
Lanceautoman Posted April 19, 2020 Author Posted April 19, 2020 I only do around 2500 miles a year in the car now as I commute on my bike all year round so I'm not to bothered with MPG in my car. I get around 45mpg on my Hornet which I'm happy with. When they are working properly there isn't much else I'd rather be driving for comfort than an XJ6; even if though it's 16 years old. It's not the fastest car out there but it's quick enough. If I want to go fast I can jump on the bike. Quote
