@Tankbag apparently they use the accelerometer information on your phone which detects the movements and can work out what vehicle you most likely are using :shock:

 

Interesting, I'll do some experiments & report back :D

I think you need to have google maps installed on your phone and switch it on somewhow

 

How the hell does google know I'm on a motorbike & not in a car ? :shock:

 

I travel by car bike and bus and also drive the bus and it knows the difference between each one! even if I am passenger on the bus or driving it!

Come to think of it, it also knew when I used to cycle to work and back last summer :shock:

We need a Routemaster so you can walk a bit, jump on & be a passenger, then drive it & jump off later while its moving. See what google makes of that :lol:
