rob m Posted September 9, 2020 Posted September 9, 2020 Just got back from two days in Wales, weather was..Welsh but still had a great time. My long time friend Andy joined me on his Suzuki Bandit and has he never toured before I figured Wales would be ideal as it is only 3.5 hours from Surrey. We crammed a lot of riding into two days, covering circa 600 miles.https://i.imgur.com/BQuXRTy.jpg' alt='IMGUR>'>Waiting at Rykas at Boxhill, 2 miles from where I live. We agreed to meet there at 8.30am to have a coffee before we set off. Rykas opens at 9am So we were on the M25 by 8.45am. Boring ride along the M4, across the bridge and having lunch near Merthyr by 12.30pm.https://i.imgur.com/l6Fq1KG.jpg' alt='IMGUR>'>Weather turned very wet so we struggled through the rain and mist to Brecon where I managed to neck a large Americano in record time. After that we headed off along the A40 to Camarthen and then various B roads to Llechryd, some of which were superb. I'll have to check my Garmin to see where we went.https://i.imgur.com/33QbRmW.jpg' alt='IMGUR>'>Rather than camp we chose a B&B in Llechryd, great place with ace food and only £40 each for the night. Good to see that they were Covid prepared with hand sanitisers and social distancing in place. We completed the track and trace details as we did everywhere we went. https://i.imgur.com/sl0QTpG.jpg' alt='IMGUR>'>https://i.imgur.com/JqD0s4D.jpg' alt='IMGUR>'>https://i.imgur.com/3O7lSsT.jpg' alt='IMGUR>'>Llechcryd is a nice little place, very scenic. Had a walk down to the river to work off the curry.https://i.imgur.com/suFxeET.jpg' alt='IMGUR>'>https://i.imgur.com/mV1R4Kl.jpg' alt='IMGUR>'>Next morning we set off quite late so with that in mind we headed back basically the way we came but that was no bad thing as we got to enjoy some of the roads we had ridden he day before. We stopped by this bridge and river just down the road from Llechryd. Stunning.https://i.imgur.com/jCaBYua.jpg' alt='IMGUR>'>https://i.imgur.com/Xl1ZltC.jpg' alt='IMGUR>'>The weather turned bad again but that didn't stop us enjoying the ride to Llandovery, plenty of overtaking going on. One bad point was that the sat nav sent us down a farm track that was too narrow to turn around so we plodded on through the drizzle, bikes were filthy afterwards.https://i.imgur.com/357gqPi.jpg' alt='IMGUR>'>https://i.imgur.com/wmmTy6E.jpg' alt='IMGUR>'>Lunch in Brecon at the pub. Track and Trace done again. Then the sun came out so we managed to enjoy a decent ride through the Brecon Beacons. There was still cloud over the Black Mountain pass so I gave it a miss this time.https://i.imgur.com/I6HboQa.jpg' alt='IMGUR>'>https://i.imgur.com/EqgGdh0.jpg' alt='IMGUR>'>https://i.imgur.com/AbeCFHX.jpg' alt='IMGUR>'>Before heading home we dropped by Barry Island, I bought rock and tacky presents for friends. It was nice to see the beach though. Andy and I lost each other in Barry so we ended up riding separately for some of the way back to Surrey but we managed to catch up with each other along the way.It was a great couple of days, riding 9-10 hours each day and my mate loved it, despite the weather. I think he has the bug. We're keen to head off for a longer trip in the Spring but that depends on covid Spending today washing my bike Quote
rob m Posted September 9, 2020 Author Posted September 9, 2020 Thanks mate. Not the best but given the circumstances, I got home with a smile on my face Quote

Saw the cafe when we riding though and it was packed, we weren't hungry at that point so carried on. Quote
