Looking for a new book

I'm looking for a new Bike Journey type book to read. Any suggestions welcome.  I have already read (and reread in some cases) most of the classics in the genre like Ted Simons, Long way round, Motorcycle diaries etc 

I tried reading one of Neil Pearts but just couldn't get into it. I might give another of his a go as the combination of Rush and motorbikes should be right up my alley

Sam Manicom, Ed March, and Graham Field would be good options.

I read Neil Peart`s  Ghost Rider tales from a healing road and once I had got into it I really enjoyed it.

His prose style is disjointed but very descriptive of his mood and feelings and he clearly loved his time alone and away from the pressures that his circumstances had dictated.

Edit:  I've just bought The Long ride home by Nathan Millward.  Sydney to London on a Honda CT110!!  Sounds great   And was only £3.50 on the kindle

It is that !

I found it best to read it as if I was the recipient of the letters he uses to construct the narrative and then fairly quickly I was away.

I will be trying more of his stuff over the xmas break as I find him quite an intriguing character and more complex than I at first gave him credit for.

I am very fortunate enough to say I saw him 3 times over the years.

Sadly missed along with so many other good ones in the last few years.

Nathan's a great guy......not long opened an adventure bike touring centre down south.

Steph Jeavons ‘Home By Seven’ 

Starts with the Heroin addiction, the reality of prison and moves into a good travel yarn. 
She was nervous about how honest she’d been writing it but I think that it’s honesty (and perceptiveness) that makes for a good travel book. 
 

Now I’m reading the Sidecar Guys ‘Our Ridiculous World Trip’ and that’s also turning out to be a very entertaining read.

He has ‘Dorothy’s Speed Shop’ in Devon.
You can try four different off road bikes in one day and not a bad price for what you get. Thinking about going down there myself.

Welsh’ish’ has a Canadian passport and a faint northern accent. Then again if you grow up somewhere else or choose to live somewhere it’s cos you love it more than anywhere else and that makes you... Spanwelsh

North Wales doesn't have the same type of accent as those of us from the South though.

In fact the further north east you go the more they sound like Scousers.

Anyway, on the subject of books I can recommend Robert Persig's 'Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance' if you want something to keep you occupied for a while. I've been reading it on-and-off for nearly 20 years and I still haven't made it to the end.

I am in the same boat with Persig but I am afraid the first time I picked it up was in 1979 then tried several times in the 80`s.

Gave up then tried again a couple of years ago..................Still failed lol.

Would love to read that mag one day.

I spoiled myself and bought the book listing every gig/support act/ set list the other month and haven`t even started it except to check a few hazy memories from the "Farewell to Kings " tour back in the day.
