19fraser93 Posted February 13, 2021 Posted February 13, 2021 Hi there , yet more problems with this bike. I’ve taken the battery out charged it put it back and to have no ignition or nothing completely dead , have checked the four fues in black box on left side under seat but don’t know if I’m missing some? And advice would be great , just my luck the bikes booked in Monday and I can’t even get the thing started to get it there Quote
Mississippi Bullfrog Posted February 14, 2021 Posted February 14, 2021 Check the battery voltage under some load, eg connect a bulb to it and check the voltage is above 12.5v. Check the connections, particularly the earth connection to the frame. Are any lights showing when you turn the ignition on? 1 Quote
19fraser93 Posted February 14, 2021 Author Posted February 14, 2021 Thanks for reply mate . Ok so what just like a normal bulb and a few wires ? Had all the connections off checked and put back together . nothing atall mate not a single light or nothing comes on completely dead . Quote
Mississippi Bullfrog Posted February 14, 2021 Posted February 14, 2021 Yup, just connect a bulb across the battery so it lights, then check the voltage with a multimeter. The thing is that a discharged battery at rest will show 12v+. Put it under any kind of load and you'll soon see the voltage drop. Always test the simplest things first. You can put a dead battery on charge and it won't take anything, so just checking the battery is indeed fully charged. Quote
19fraser93 Posted February 14, 2021 Author Posted February 14, 2021 Ok thanks il need to get some cable and try the bulb thing mate , and might try get a multimeter . My battery says fully charged on the charger but if the battery was crap would it still give false reading like that ? Quote
Mississippi Bullfrog Posted February 14, 2021 Posted February 14, 2021 It can do. Many chargers won't touch a totally dead battery so it can show as the battery being fully charged. 1 Quote
19fraser93 Posted February 14, 2021 Author Posted February 14, 2021 Rite that’s not bad then I was thinking because it said it was charged it must have been , got a new batter coming on Tuesday so going to try this and hope it sorts it just didn’t know if there is anything eles could cause this Quote

It turns out not to be the battery checked it with multimeter and has good charge any idea what could be next Quote
Mississippi Bullfrog Posted February 15, 2021 Posted February 15, 2021 Did you also check the connections, particularly the earth lead? Quote
19fraser93 Posted February 16, 2021 Author Posted February 16, 2021 Yes mate the earth looks fine checked fuses and both are good too. I’ve tried to follow the cables to see where eles it could lead to and if any bad connections but can’t see anything . There was a bit of blueing on the connection from the ignition but still looks fine and a good connection if you know what I mean 14 hours ago, Mississippi Bullfrog said: Did you also check the connections, particularly the earth lead? 14 hours ago, Mississippi Bullfrog said: Did you also check the connections, particularly the earth lead? It might look fine and it may carry voltage, but it won't let current flow. Cut that out and replace with a proper soldered splice. Quote
19fraser93 Posted February 16, 2021 Author Posted February 16, 2021 Ohh I’m not that handy mate lol what do you think need to that or is it better leaving for someone who knows what they are doing lol ? Quote
TimR Posted February 17, 2021 Posted February 17, 2021 (edited) Have you checked the main fuse on starter solenoid ? ( If fitted ) Edited February 17, 2021 by TimR 1 Quote

Ellis taylor Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 hello, I have a similar problem but I have power to everything, my battery light flashes constantly, I have just broken down and it will not even try to turn over, first thought was the coil playing up after getting wet or fuse. what should I do.
