daveinlim Posted March 6, 2021 Posted March 6, 2021 I'm getting annoyed carrying my chain around. It's heavy, it's large and it takes up a lot of space. Where I park at work is a great spot but there's nowhere to chain the bike to. The same for my gym and while I'm at Tesco. So I'm thinking of buying a decent shackle lock instead. My thoughts are either the Oxford 16mm boss alarmed or the kovix 16mm alarmed u lock. One of these combined with the Oxford nemesis disc lock or the milenco u lock which is kind of similar. Any idea if any of the above are better than the others? Quote
Stu Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 What about a litelock? https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/505119/#/27907,3203,1186 Quote

Would be fine for a quick trip to Tesco but I think in central London am angle grinder would slice through that in seconds. Quote
Fish Posted March 8, 2021 Posted March 8, 2021 Any chain that you can carry will not last that long against an angle grinder. Fish 1 Quote
Mississippi Bullfrog Posted March 8, 2021 Posted March 8, 2021 If you're using an Oxford Nemesis already then I think I'd go for the Oxford 16mm Boss lock. Only because I suspect it's a bit more flexible how you can use it than the Kovix. But if the Kovix fits where you want then it's probably slightly more resistant to attack than the Oxford. I've got a Nemesis I used for both my garage chain and as a disc lock when required. The Boss seems to duplicate that style of lock and add an alarm. If you can lock both front and rear wheels it's better. Quote

Ya m thinking Oxford boss for front and nemesis for the rear for when it's parked up 9-5, especially as I'll be back in the office again soon (hopefully) Quote
