On my CBT the instructor said there's no difference safety wise between a £50 helmet and a £500 helmet....no idea if it's true tbh

Well, they all have to meet the safety standards to be sold in the UK.

You can buy an open face helmet that costs £500 .. or a full face for £50... You pays your money and takes your chances.

If you want to see the end result, look at sailing gear, £600 for a water proof jacket. That's not even insulated and has no armour...

That's simple with Musto: £50 for the basic jacket, £50 for waterproofing, £50 for some padding and £450 for a yellow fluorescent hoodie made out of bicycle hi-viz jacket. 3M retroflective strips and a pocket for PLB are added for free to sweeten the deal.
