Spongefinger Posted May 15, 2021 Posted May 15, 2021 Was commenting on a thread on YouTube and a guy there said he had just failed his mid 2 due to a single missed shoulder check turning right back into the test centre. There was no other traffic around. Is this right ? I was under the impression unless you had caused danger to yourself or others a missed shoulder check would probably be a minor ? Quote
KiwiBob Posted May 15, 2021 Posted May 15, 2021 I may be wrong but I doubt that he would fail for just one missed lifesaver. .. May be it was just the straw that broke the camels back and he more minors than he wants to admit? 1 Quote

James in Brum Posted May 15, 2021 Posted May 15, 2021 Unless that missed lifesaver meant that someone had to swerve or brake to avoid collision or was a part of a major fault. Quote

I can't find a definitive answer but I did find this ... "Effective mirror checks, rear observations and ‘lifesavers’ must be present throughout the Module Two test. Missed rear observations can be deemed as minor or major faults, but if ‘lifesavers’ before moving position are habitually missed this will be recorded as a serious fault (test fail)." 1 Quote
SometimesSansEngine Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 How did he know no other traffic was around if he didn't do a shoulder check? Only partly serious there - but yes normally it would have been a couple of missed ops and/or you missed something, eg passing another road user who then may have come up your outside, or they were stationary for some time waiting to turn in so a quick check would have verified nothing unexpected had changed alongside you. I think it's usual for an examiner to say "the rest of your ride was fine" in a test where you failed on only one thing. 1 Quote
