Are some of these new members actually real people ? Why would I automatically welcome someone before they have introduced themselves ? It doesn't work like that in a Facebook Group . People not only introduce themselves but they generally post a picture of their bike and say thanks for accepting me .

I just wait and see if they actually post before I say anything

No Bob some of them are spam bots and I as well as others delete them when it becomes apparent or when going through the new members when life allows.

 

There has always been a large number of users sign up and never post, the welcome from admin is simply a feature of the board software
