Recommended Posts

Hi was looking around at K&N air filters for my GPZ500 and was just wondering if they are worth the money or are they just a waste of time? Thanks to anyone with any advice!!

I personally find K&N Air filters a big difference, especially on 2 strokes.

Makes improvement in sound and I find it improves performance at higher revs.

I would recommend one fella.

Yes they are worth it. Made a big difference to my bikes. To get full effect use with performance exhausts.

And craig the reason your bike was running lean is because K&N filters let in more air.

If its a carb bike you have to up your main jet size by probably 2-5 sizes, raise the needle jet,and reset your pilot jet or go up 1 or 2 sizes.

If its an injected bike you should get it remapped to let in more fuel..

I had K&N filters on a bike once, and I thought they were the biggest pain in the arse ever. If they got wet then they couldn't breath so everytime I washed the bike or if it rained then the bike ran really bad.

Last time I had one it came with a pretty good decal that said "K&N Filter Charged". Fancy words but well written because the bike felt like it had a turbo charger on it. It was 2-stroke though....It had a deeper note and the mid-range was much better and the top-end was mind blowing in comparison.

They really work on the little strokers.

2 types of K&N filter, there is the straight replacement for original in air

filter box or you can get the ones that fit straight to carb, the 1 in the

air filter box should changed will help with breathing and may need slight

adjustment, the separate filters may need more, but K&N give lifetime

guarantee so you should never have to replace it
