bikegirl Posted August 9, 2022 Posted August 9, 2022 Hey Everyone, I’m new to the biking world, I’ve always wanted to ride a motorcycle and so I thought why not start now! I have my CBT booked and want to carry on to the full bike test. I’m looking into what bike to get for my first bike at the moment. I like the Honda CB350 RS but I’m gutted it isn’t available to buy in the UK yet the other bike I like is the Kawasaki z900RS but not as a first bike, that will maybe come in a couple of years. If anyone has any recommendations for a first bike I would be glad to hear them. would love to chat to you all thanks Bikegirl 3 Quote
cloughie24 Posted August 10, 2022 Posted August 10, 2022 Morning and welcome!! Good to see another lady biker starting out on this fun adventure! I only passed my full license back in April, got a Honda CB500F which I'm really enjoying as a first bike. Not too heavy and I had it lower for convenience (I'm 5'2" and weigh 44kg), perfect for get out and about and really learning what I'm capable of without massive fear of it being too powerful. The best thing to do is go for a test ride and see what feels comfortable for you Happy biking and enjoy!! 2 Quote
MikeHorton Posted August 10, 2022 Posted August 10, 2022 Some of the new royal enfield 350 offerings seem quite good they have improved their quality since I had my himalayan. But can't go wrong with a Honda cb500 2 Quote
bikegirl Posted August 10, 2022 Posted August 10, 2022 Hey, thanks for the replies good to meet likeminded people too as I don’t know anyone who rides! the Honda cb500 is nice but it has more of a sportier ride position and I was hoping for a more sit up position. I am also cautious of getting something too powerful for a first bike Quote
bonio Posted August 10, 2022 Posted August 10, 2022 Welcome in and good luck choosing a bike! Just to give us an idea, what's your budget? Quote

Hiya, It's classed as a naked bike, much more upright than it's sporty counterpart CBR500. I was quite nervous about the getting on a more powerful bike than my Grom but once I started my DAS it soon became much easier to handle a larger bike (learnt on a MT-07 which is 650cc). The bike will only go as fast as you want it to, you're in control 1 Quote
bikegirl Posted August 10, 2022 Posted August 10, 2022 Il take a look at its riding position but I think like you said it’s good to just go and test ride although the idea sounds scary having never ridden before but I’m sure once I’ve passed my tests il feel more confident. I have heard that higher cc bikes can be easier to handle than say a 125cc and like you say I will be in control of the throttle 1 Quote
bikegirl Posted August 10, 2022 Posted August 10, 2022 Budget is really up to £3k for my first bike although if the Honda cb350 became available I would stretch to that as I’d have it for a good few years. thanks Bikegirl Quote
Guest Posted August 10, 2022 Posted August 10, 2022 Cb500x? That has an upright riding position. Quote
MikeHorton Posted August 10, 2022 Posted August 10, 2022 I saw some news the small engined triumphs are on their way too. This RE hunter 350 looks good tho! Cb500x may have too high a seat height for you depending on your height but as said the cb500f isnt too sporty and if good on the fuel 3 Quote
gymwitch Posted August 11, 2022 Posted August 11, 2022 Hi and welcome Im on my first bike Honda NC750s i love it and find it very comfortable. I have lowered it as im a shortie at 5'3. I commute and tour on it. Fully loaded with tent and what not. Usual Honda in that it very forgiving, super cheap to run (well when petrol was a normal price) Super easy to do basic mechanical stuff on. Will i outgrow it.....yes but for now its a great bike. Steady but got the legs when you need them. She's my Ruby 4 Quote
