Oh-Danny-Boy Posted May 9, 2023 Posted May 9, 2023 Hi all. Hope someone can help or point me in the right direction. I have an 09 hornet 600. Went for a spin this evening and noticed that when the road was a bit bumpy, two lights would appear; HISS Engine light Also, the revs would drop right down and I would lose power for a couple of seconds before it would continue again. This is a recent buy and only my second ride. Any idea what this could be? I would rather learn amd do the work myself if it's an easy fix. Cheers Quote
onesea Posted May 10, 2023 Posted May 10, 2023 (edited) If it's on a bumpy road I would say loose wiring connection somewhere. Location would be the challenge, someone with more knowledge will be along shortly to tell me I am wrong. Edited May 10, 2023 by onesea 1 Quote
Ian Frog Posted May 10, 2023 Posted May 10, 2023 Don`t think you are wrong at all @onesea For my money I would start the search in the area of the ignition switch itself. It is suprising how often damage occurs because people ride around with large heavy bunches of keys on the keyring with the ignition key. Cheers Ian Quote
Mississippi Bullfrog Posted May 10, 2023 Posted May 10, 2023 I'm sure @oneseais right. Check also the battery connectors, both on the battery itself and also where the earth strap connects to the frame. Check the battery terminals themselvs, it's not unknown for them to break and be loose in the battery. 1 Quote
Oh-Danny-Boy Posted May 19, 2023 Author Posted May 19, 2023 Finally got round to checking it last night. It was a loose connection to the battery. All sorted, thanks for the advice. Cheers 🏍 3 Quote
