Popular Post MT_Tim Posted February 14, 2024 Popular Post Posted February 14, 2024 Afternoon All, Thought I'd introduce my self after lurking on here for a few months. So I decided at the ripe old age of 37 that I was going to get a motorbike to commute to work to save some time as well as have some fun. Fast forward to October 23 and I booked and Passed my CBT having been driving a car for 20 years and ended up buying a 2018 MT03 ABS.( Didn't want to go to mad as a first bike) My stage 1 was complete and onto the theory test after 2 goes I finally cracked that nut and decided to go all out and do my DAS having last been on a PW50 back in the mid 90's. Having decided to go for a 5 day course to give me the best shot of passing I was thrown straight on an MT07. MOD 1 passed with no issues ( Motorbike School had access to the test centre for 2 days before my test) MOD 2 passed with 1 minor of hesitation at a roundabout with 3 mins of the test staring, I put that down to nerves. Fast forward almost a month and for the last 4 days I have been commuting from North Kent to North London via the ever exciting Blackwall tunnel. Why I decided to get a naked bike I do not know as it was great fun going up the M11 and round the M25 on the way home. Well that the end of the essay and I must say I'd never in a million years of thought I would enjoy riding a Bike as much as I have the last 4 days having to not sit in traffic. Happy riding and Stay safe. 9 1 Quote

Guest Posted February 14, 2024 Posted February 14, 2024 Good stuff words of advice, stay away from wet manhole covers and diesel spills usually on the outside of roundabouts.. Good luck and have fun. Quote
MT_Tim Posted February 14, 2024 Author Posted February 14, 2024 Thanks was made well aware of the manhole covers while doing my DAS and the diesel spills, its amazing how much you actually pay attention the the road surface when on a bike. managed to dodge a few cover on the way home in the rain yesterday especially with 2 new tyres 1 Quote
Simon Davey Posted February 15, 2024 Posted February 15, 2024 Welcome, and congratulations. That's one heck of a commute for a new rider, It'll stand you in good stead for the pleasure rides, it'll mean they'll be easy and nothing but fun. Quote
geofferz Posted February 15, 2024 Posted February 15, 2024 Welcome! Interesting username - how did you choose it? 3 Quote
MT_Tim Posted February 15, 2024 Author Posted February 15, 2024 @Simon Davey I do like a challenge and its so much quicker getting home on a bike that in the car last 2 days there's been about 40 mins of traffic on the A406 and on the A12. but thoroughly enjoying it and cant wait for the warmer weather as its been a bit nippy at 5:30 in the mornings. @geofferz I dint put to much thought into it to be honest as Ive4 got a MT03 and my name is Tim it was just a lazy one. 1 Quote
Shepherd Posted February 16, 2024 Posted February 16, 2024 Congrats on the pass Take it easy though. I see too many over confident riders on the A13, A406 and the A2 whizzing between traffic at stupid mph - it's only a matter of time at the speeds they filter at. Enjoy it ... safely! 2 Quote
