Hi All.

Just bought a Suzuki GSXR1300R 01 reg, needs repairs as seller had a crash on it and has been garaged for 6 years.

Any advice on main checks prior to doing any work or do’s and dont’s would be appreciated. No leaks on bike, no visible damage to frame. The seller did start the bike after the fall and ride home.

Thank you All

What’s its insurance cat ?  Possibly a question you should have had answered before you handed over the cash …

Just a quick thought, whilst working on this particular bike under no circumstances attempt to turn it over on the starter motor unless you are confident the battery is holding a significant charge.

There have been incidents of damage occuring when people have carried on turning Busa`s over and letting the battery charge fall.

Cheers

The previous seller did not notify the insurance company. He rode the bike home and let his insurance run out. There was no other vehicle involved in the incident.

Hi welcome,

Cracking bike the Busa, l guess you'll just start with the basics. What sort of damage was done?

Visible damage, fuel tank has huge dents. Fairings on left and front broken. Clutch lever and beam switch broken. Frame, folks and wheels look fine. I did add some pics of the bike.

Hi, yep that's had a good battering. Just had a browse on ebay and the replacement parts aren't as expensive as you might think, sure you'll have to put a few hundred into it but the parts are out there. I take it the frame and forks are straight?

dont be afraid to look at Suzuki's great idea of the vintage program for parts, dealers or better yet specialist will know the best way and most of the time aint that much more than you think especially for the normal parts.

Hi @Adil glad to see the pic shows damage not terrible.

I have some standard parts which may be for sale  for a Gen1 such as std Exhaust silencers and headers (possibly the link pipes too) a set of std mirrors and a pair of wheels.

I think there is also a standard swingarm and some clutch parts somewhere in the workshop as well.

I am in the midlands should you want a chat?

Cheers

Hi Ian,

Frame and forks are straight and no signs of damage, the only thing bent is the top fairing clock mounting bracket.

thanks for offering the parts, will be in touch.
