angrybear Posted June 3, 2024 Posted June 3, 2024 Does anyone know of a company that can replace the fabric lining of a helmet ? I've got several boxed brand new helmets that the thin foam in the lining has gone to powder & I'd like to get replaced. Thanks Quote
husoi Posted June 3, 2024 Posted June 3, 2024 That would indicate the helmets have past their due date. If a reputable brand then you could order replacement liners. Downside is if the helmets have been discontinued Quote
RideWithStyles Posted June 3, 2024 Posted June 3, 2024 if their that old that the foam is disintegrating then thats a good indication that its past its best and i wouldnt wear or sell them on. what brand? speak to the manufacturer for spares. if you are really struggling an upholstered is a off chance. angrybear Posted June 3, 2024 Author Posted June 3, 2024 They're all FM "Magic Roundabouts" so the manufacturer has gone bust. Yes they're old(ish) but the actual polystyrene impact-padding is fine, as is the casing it's just the 2-3mm thick lining foam that's gone. I've tried the local upholsterer they declined as 'too fiddley' Quote
RideWithStyles Posted June 3, 2024 Posted June 3, 2024 might be good to self teach with help of youtube vids as guides. Quote
husoi Posted June 3, 2024 Posted June 3, 2024 Maybe using the liners of a similar shape from a different brand. Alternatively get a singer and DIY the replacement. Lots of shops selling foam online for any thickness and density you want Quote
Bender Posted June 3, 2024 Posted June 3, 2024 They are old, the foam has gone no doubt sitting in a box out of the sun, rest may appear fine untill someone's head hits something hard, that's not the best time to discover the important bits have degraded too. Turn them into lamps or hanging plant pots. 1 Quote
