Mr Fro Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 I drove past the local pub this morning on the kiddy run and saw this: On my way home I stopped by and had a chat because it's something I'm interested in. I mentioned to the bloke that it was odd that I hadn't heard anything about it as I'm a biker and I live in the village. I said I was interested in electric stuff at which point he started telling me how fab they are. Another punter turned up and asked for a test ride. Zero bloke said "No, it's journalists only"... 1 1 2 Quote
ColinWB Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 Interesting approach. I'm sure they were on The Motorbike Show relatively recently too. Quote
Capt Sisko Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 I've worked on a good number of trade stands over the years and you pretty quickly get a feel of who are the tyre kickers and who are potential customers. Okay so this a trade only event and if a spotty nurd turns up and says 'giz us a go mister', you're polite, but you tell them to F off. However should a biker turn up on a motorbike, take an interest and start asking questions, well you're already halfway there. Sure you've got to tell him it's a trade only event and sorry, but our insurance doesn't cover the general public so I can't offer you a test ride right now, but I'll tell you what, here have this brochure and if you'll let me know your details I'll pass them along to the local dealer. I'm sure they'll be happy to lend you a demonstrator for an hour or two. It ain't difficult to turn a passing interest into a potential sale, particularly when they've come to you! Maybe Zero should rename themselves Null Points. 2 1 Quote

It seems weird that they should put up marquee and all that in a pub car park for a bunch of journos. If they'd have asked nicely I would have accepted a loaner for a month or so and done an ongoing review through my channels. Quote
Mississippi Bullfrog Posted July 26, 2024 Posted July 26, 2024 I was out on a ride yesterday with a guy who had a Zero franchise. He gave up on them due to the horrendous reliability issues, total lack of aftermarket support and poor quality of the bikes. In the end he took a financial hit and scrapped the unsold bikes in stock rather than having to deal with customers bringing them back broken. Just because they are electric doesn't mean they won't go wrong. Quote
RideWithStyles Posted July 26, 2024 Posted July 26, 2024 (edited) I applaud them for it. At least it looks like a friendly set up at a nice looking local pub in the background while advertising your product (more life like relation especially if you’re trying to get a foot hold in that region!) plus a bit extra income for the pub, far better than flying a load of meat sacks and crap to a far away place in a third world/povity stricken place/huge disparity which is hugely wasteful of resource’s on a company that is relatively small. maybe they should have had a small pack for the random enquiry but most are set up on the internet, Nothing nicer than thumbing through a brochure than prodding and zooming in and out through a web page. shame about BF post but im not surprised, it’s difficult with well established brands that don’t want to change and theyve had years at it and huge resources.
