Mold Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 Hello, does anyone know what I do if my parking ticket is stolen? I assume I stick the paid for parking ticket on my windscreen, but what the ticket is stolen? If I'm paying for the ticket by credit or debit card would that prove I've paid for a ticket and it was stolen if I come back to my bike and find it has a parking fine? Thanks for your help. Quote
Yorky Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 How about take a photo using your phone. Make sure to get the date and time in, and even better if it's the kind of ticket that has your reg. on. That along with proof of purchase should suffice. 3 Quote
bud Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 Perhaps write bike and the reg at the bottom of the ticket too. Might make it less likely to be stolen. 1 Quote
Fiddlesticks Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 Speaking of which, got a parking ticket on the bike on Sunday... For parking outside the marked bays as directed by the Council's own website. Appeal pending. 2 Quote
AstronautNinja Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 Have you checked T&C that bikes have to pay? Many are exempt Quote
Mississippi Bullfrog Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 I always take a photo of any ticket affixed to the bike. It's annoying how many places that used to have free parking for bikes are now charging or withdrawing bike parking g altogether. 1 Quote
Shepherd Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 Yep, it seems more are changing to payment by app, which now include bikes when it used to be free to park. I hate that there are so many apps I have to have just in one small town. 1 Quote
JRH Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 (edited) Councils going the app route means no more filling ticket machines with paper tickets(saves cost of paying someone) just input your reg details, and oh look we can now charge motorcycles cause their tickets can’t be nicked Edited October 16, 2024 by JRH 2 Quote
Old-codger Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 I refuse to use car parks that require an app I go and spend my money somewhere else, plus there is now the scam where fake QR codes are being put on payment machines so you download god knows what. 1 Quote

Good luck trying to park in my neck of the woods. All the official car parks are either pay by app or card. Don't mind the latter and never use QR codes. Gloucestershire still has free bike parking wherever the car park is council run. Ones run by private companies on behalf of the council are mostly payable therefore avoided by bikers. 1 Quote
