I haven't got the bike yet, it's on order, but when I googled it AI said it did, the salesman didn't think so and I suppose he should know? If not I'm just wondering about other security to tell the insurance. Data tag carries a monthly subscription doesn't it, and I didn't really want to do that. Other than disc locks and chains I'm not sure.

I’m not sure it does as it is a budget bike and as billy says they normally like to show the fact off for the buyer and scum.

Any thatham approved immobiliser should qualify.

If you can push the boat out a little bit then a tracker would be better for you and them.

datatag immobiliser alarm does not have sub, data tag markers do not just a one off fee. Trackers do have a subscription

Be careful with what you tell them you use. If you say, yes I use a Big Locks & Co XYZ123, then they will expect you to use it, all the tiime. The problem comes if your bike gets stolen, they may ask for proof that you used it. Now, that might be fine if the scrotes leave your smashed up lock on the side of the road, but some of them take the broken lock with then, it's called DNA free crime and herin lies the problem. The insurance company gave you a discount because you said I use an XYZ123, but you've got no proof you did. The insurance company then looks at the small print and reduces your claim by whatever percentage and you're stuffed.

Call me a cynical old git if you like, but I've been dealing with insurance companies since I got my first bike in 1978 and over the years they've got both harder to deal with and more & more are taking the 'refer to the wording in your policy document' as a get out clause if they can. Insurance companies are hard businesses out to make a profit and not the soft cuddly friends they advertise as.

Me, I use a Big Locks & Co XYZ123's and an alarmed disc lock, but the discount the insurance company offered me for it was so pathetically small I thought sod it, it's not worth the hassle should the sh*t hit the fan.

Be wary of what you tell the insurance company. If you say lock and chain and then forget to put ito on, it get's nicked, you're on a loser.

Another thing to consider. If you say you use a lock and chain. Even if you pop to the shops. You need to take the chain with you.

A heavy chain can be a problem when you need to carry it.

I always say "no security", after I discovered that, whatever I said it had, it didn't change premium by much. Similarly I always say, "no advanced rider qualifications". I've never seen the premium budge an inch on that one.

That's worth bearing in mind as if you claim to have something but for whatever reason aren't using it then you make it easier for the insurers to screw you over even more.

All i declare are two things: a ground anchor (you can’t take that anywhere to cover the it wasn’t locked with a ground anchor when about, yet helps cover for home security) and microdot markings the bike had…
