Drz. It was fine last week. But today it won't start. Plenty of juice in the battery to turn the engine. Then it started for a bit, coughed and stopped. Put it on choke... same thing. Switched to reserve tank. Same. Plenty of fuel in the tank anyway.

Almost no smell of fuel from the exhaust. Fuel pump perhaps? Anything I should check first?

Ta.

Pull fuel pipe off and check fuel coming out when pump is supposed to be running

pull a plug and check it is sparking.

give up and use the MV Augusta 😉

@Simon Davey No mate, but I've removed the spark plug and it looks a bit dodge, and seems to me not to spark that well, so I've ordered another🤞. It comes tomorrow.

It might be worth removing the spark plug cap too. Then cutting back a little of the lead so it's got fresh wire to contact.

It can get crusty over time.

New plug fitted, annnnddddd.. it starts :-D

Modern Spark plugs tend to be like that.  I have had a 2 stroke outboard for 20 years, it used get challenging to start run rough get annoying, change spark plug all fine.

Now the only clue you get is if its not starting first pull once or twice and very soon after it will not start.  Same brand plug bought from same shop.

Not just modern spark plugs. I had a lambretta in the early 70's. If it didn't start on the 3 or 4th kick change the plug and then it was fine. I used to carry several spare plugs.
