sparkeh9
Was just warming up my bike today, got it warmed up and revved it a bit, then the throttle went loose and couldnt rev any more.I subsequently looked at the throttle and found that the cable at the engine was fine(the bit where it is tied at two points to a circular looking thing) it is broken a bit further up about 10cm before the throttle, where it is attached to the handle. It seems to be a circular route, because if I tug at the cable attached to the engine, it revs, if I tug at the throttle end of the snapped cable, the handle rotates. My question is, is this a common setup for throttle assembly? is it easy to replace, and would it be better to get a garage to look at it? Alex Gold
There's an open and close cable, so yes that's right. Should be fairly easy to replace, but you might have to/want to take the tank off

Alex Gold
You'd probably be ok with a Zephyr cable (seeing at it is also a Kawasaki ZR) - they're all approx the same length I'd imagine - the Zephyr one has a metal bit about 2 inches long at the engine end though, check if yours does. If not, look for one that looks like yours I suppose!

rosszx9r
reason i ask, is my bike is an import, and not many sites I have come across know about it, even the kawasaki site shows nothing about it o.0 try http://www.cornwallkawasaki.co.uk i've found them really helpful in the past. you can look for the part on the parts viewer but call them before you order so they can double check it ok for you.i bought a new throttle cable for my ZX9r from them but couldn't identify the right part from the drawings. spoke to them in the morning and it was with me next day!
