This is why the likes of @megawatt used to get his knickers in a twist when people used to ask where to take their bikes for servicing etc! His reply was always spend the money on tools and learn to do it and do it right as some "mechanics" don't give a shit! Glad you have got it sorted Its as if some places just want to get the job done and back out the door in the quickest time possible and have the next money earner on the bench

See this is an impossible question as you have pretty much given the reason why already! Riders swap a dead rear shock for something better than the stock one and thats the only one they ever try! so they write a review saying its the best shock they have ever used but in fact its only better than the ones they are used to Ideally you need back to back comparisons

Sounds like a good ride @Bender I ended up dragging the bike out and going for a ride as I had made some adjustments to the clutch so I had to "test" it
