  1. http://img705.imageshack.us/img705/3332/imageiml.jpg Starting to take shape. Decided to crack on with the bike... Although the frame isn't mint but it will have to do. 98% of the bad marks I won't see because the fairings are covering it up. If anyone near me fancies putting to wiring in for me and be in your debt... I got angry and broke the ignition set... 50 quid set back...
  2. Yeah, the full 70 he asked for... It looks like he's tried rushing it it in 5 minutes the paint is falling off in places... I now have to miss work tomorrow and take it to someone who knows what they're doing... I've not looked into that much, most places around me won't touch my bike as they stick to only cars Yeah, I've sorted my exhaust now thank you bogof and I did use phosphoric acid from a local DIY shop

  4. Hey guys, was going to be good day today... Picked my frame up! Quite possibly the worst job I've seen! He didn't take the old bolts that I missed he's sprayed over them, so i take them out and paint peels off... Got scratches on it doesn't even look like he's attempted to sand it... Don't think he's even bothered to clean all the dirt off! Some pictures as soon as my phone charges up... I picked it up in a dim lit garage and didn't see until I got home... I'm well and truly pissed off He's taken 7 weeks with it and personally looks worse than it originally did...
  5. Hi, yeah it's costed me a fair bit to rebuild it but everything seemed okay in the engine anyway but while it was apart it got rebuilt i lubed all cogs etc with 2 stroke oil might be to much :/ but better safe than sorry... I'll be sure to add oil in the spark plug hole I've bought a pack of three NGK spark plugs so if I foul one I've got some spare. I hope it starts up okay Thanks for your help guys
  6. That explained a crap load to me thanks A few people I've spoked to and some people on the web don't even check it after a rebuild but because its my first time one or two things could of gone wrong... It's all sealed with liquid gasket stuff, spread evenly so it's all put together properly so it should be okay and is had a new barrel and piston put on... Crank seals were a pain in the arse but eventually put on... So it should be good right? Only thing I can think could go wrong is the timing on it but I put it on exactly how it came off and I can't test timing until its back together
  7. I'm so confused I followed that tutorial and to no avail I just keep getting no reading But the air that gets pushed out of the exhaust hole is massive I cant keep my hand over it... The piston has an arrow on it which is meant to be pointing forward, towards the front wheel, right? I don't get why the compression tester isn't picking anything up :@
  8. Sorry for wasting your time guys I'm an idiot... There's a little buttony pin than you push in and it must open a valve in the compression testers pipe... So yeah call me what you want but moral of the story is to read your manual first Sorry guys thanks for your help much appreciated
  9. I would of thought if I plugged the exhaust surely under pressure it'd pop straight out before I got a proper reading :/ Thanks a lot for your help
  10. Thanks for the help guys I attached my 12v battery to it and it spins normally but the air gets pushed out of the exhaust hole now so there's no reading on my compression tool. It's a Peugeot XR6 and the reason for testing it is because I've just rebuilt the engine and need to check I'm getting good compression before I put it back in the frame because if I've missed something out I'll to have to take it out again
  11. Probably a stupid question but is it possible to do a compression test with the engine out of the bike? Reason for it is because I've still not got my frame back and my compression tool has arrived so thought I could give it a go? Like use a drill to spin the fly wheel or something or will that seize the engine? Thanks for your help

    some advice plz

Neither did I when I took my chain off, I used a few screwdrivers haha, worries me a bit now
  13. I've got all that Does it have to be white or brown vineager? And the ingredients you said is that mixed together and how much of each? Thanks
  14. Hi guys sorry I've not posted on here in a while I've still not got the frame back which is really starting to bug me :@ Anyway I've decided to crack on with other parts. Is there anyway I can strip the rust off my exhaust pipe using home remedy stuff? I'm strapped for cash and this bike is sucking me dry (money). I also need a good dent remover? http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/117/imagelgq.jpg http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/672/imagedsd.jpg
  15. Holy crap, makes sense now Thanks a lot for the help :D:D:D Yayy I guess it's true when they say small things amuse small minds
  16. Yeah, it's got a little LED in the switch, sorry should give you more details :/ Erm, it's got a 12 volt transformer and the description says 'Each kit includes a 12V transformer box so all you will need is a 12V switch and your ready to get them installed in a position of your choice.' So do I need to add another fuse for the dash lights?
  17. Erm, they're for neons for on my bike.. How would I get the switch to light up when the dash lights come on? Sorry, I don't even know where to start when it comes to wiring so I thought I'd ask this friendly bunch before I blow something up
  18. Hi, as the title says I need help pointing out which wire goes where, originally I thought it'd be Plus to RED and negative to BLACK but no, that'd be far to simple.. The switch has three tongues which wires can be attached too. http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/2671/img0718qm.jpg These are the two wires which I assume are positive and negative. http://img826.imageshack.us/img826/5228/img0719e.jpg Newbie question but at least it keeps you busy
  19. No problems I don't want to put anyone out of their way it's just if anyone goes near the northwest area then I'll be able to meet them I'll keep my eye on this thread to see if anyone is unlucky enough to have me tag along
  20. Yeah, I'll probably bring some up with me if I go all I need to do is find some people in my area that are willing to take the long route for a newbie like me
  21. That's great news I'll be on my 125 by then and hoping to get down there If I can't drink I'll just stick to J20 and meet others It'll be my first long journey so hoping to find a few people to lead the way
  22. Hi couple questions; Would you recommend a 125 bike doing that sort of journey or would you recommend it for more bigger bikes? (Live in southport) Is there anyone from the north west willing to do the trip with me avoiding highways as I'm on a CBT and the main question is what are the rules on drinking is the owner a bit lenient towards the odd pint or is it strict and to avoid trouble stick to J2Os?
  23. I've never heard of a 'project building club' but if you just join an owners club based on the project I'm sure they'd help? Don't know if that made sense so for example, you're rebuilding a Yamaha R1 you'd join an R1 club...
  24. Ricky

    LEADED or UNLEADED?

I'm probably miles off so I'd probably wait until someone who knows more to come online
