  1. I did a just shy of 1000 miles in the last week and thanks to traffic jams and roadworks spent most of it filtering - and it was only on the M25 that I had drivers trying to block me in or pin me against lorries! Interesting lot, those London drivers... seem to actively pursue pannier-shaped scratches down the sides of their cars
  2. Ah well. Both bikes are long overdue for a clean anyway, so I guess that'll kill the time. The BMW hasn't been cleaned since it had those oil leaks and the Lex is looking a bit rusty from neglect, can't let that get any worse. Fun fun!
  3. Anyone planning anything for this weekend? I think I'm suffering post-rally withdrawal
  4. Just the same as last year, I've had Elvis songs stuck in my head for days afterwards
  5. Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. Thought I'd also try to plan a route that went through as many of the National Parks as possible. Just need to get this ruddy map to work Might just be that my work PC doesn't like it.
  6. See, I'm torn between doing all of East England and maybe one of the neighbouring ones in the interest of maximum points, or saying "stuff the completion bonuses" and doing a route all over the country. Only got a few days of holiday left this year and want to use them well... Obviously it'd be pretty handy to be able to see them all on a map if I take the 'all over the place' approach so I can plan around it!
  7. I was gonna start planning a week of tag hunting (on work time while I wait for a response about something from the head of marketing), but can't get the ruddy Google map to load
  8. If it's happening fairly frequently, you could ask a co-worker with a car to park by your bike with a camera tucked away somewhere in their car. Depending on how keen you are to catch them red handed, you could invest in one of those ~£50 cameras for filming nocturnal wildlife, with the huge battery life and motion sensor to start filming.
  9. BBC weather is promising clear skies, Accuweather says a chance of some light rain that stops around 6pm. Decent evening for it!
  10. Having discovered that if a tent fits in my panniers then it doesn't fit me, I think I'll be investing in one of these so I can tie my three man tent across the seat. Very smart idea and a bit more reusable than the bin bag look (which I also resorted to last year).
  11. Yeah, it's awesome when you think about it
  12. Glad that you got that picture at the fuel stop, new desktop wallpeper for work right there!
  13. I'm going to be there, around 7:30ish. Got your drill bits and file in my top box in case you can make it, Bob.
  14. Good good, I'll go roll in some mud and crudely paint a penis on my topbox.
  15. Right, so we need to organise an uncivilised yob's ride on the same day
  16. Yeah, great to see some of the pictures up! Can't believe I didn't bring a camera...
  17. Home at last! Just filtered almost the entire length of the A303, M3, and a quarter of the M25 - worst traffic I've ever seen along there
  18. For the stretch I was behind you, I have no complaints! Properly impressed by how well you handle it after only a month owning it.
  19. Aww no, that's rotten luck! Glad the damage isn't any worse though. Amazing weekend, my hat comes off to all those who played a part in organising it! Looking forward to seeing photos start to pop up
  20. Home and safe (for several hours now). Had an awesome time, roll on next summer
  21. Well, thanks to that massive storm on the way home from work, all of my gear is soaking wet with little hope of drying by tomorrow. Guess it's another rally with soggy boots for me!
  22. When this happened to my bike, it was because the little bracket underneath the bars had moved slightly - the one that holds a little button which controls the brake light. Bit of brute force sorted it Has yours got anything like that?
  23. This idea, I like. Just realised that I've completely forgotten a costume... have to dig through the old Uni stuff and see which I've still got
  24. Nearly Cat! 3 out of 4 brackets on each now, they hold themselves in place pretty well but they're a bugger to detach from the bike. Going to try to attach the last two brackets tonight, have to be careful that I don't stick them in a place that obstructs the fiddly process of removing them Hopefully won't take long to pack after that, just work my way down the list throwing things into panniers and top box then be on my way. No messing with bungees for me! This way has been so much easier Ricky...
  25. Colour me impressed Cat, that's some insane packing I really need to start packing tonight, I've written a list and that's it... Last year I sorted everything several days in advance and even did I trial pack! What has become of my organisational skills... Got my GPS ready though; bit of laminated paper with road names to stick to the inside of the screen Edit: Hope the rain over there is nothing like the rain over here! Don't think any of us wants to wake up to a submerged bike!
