  2. I don't speak any Welsh, but I have a translator at my disposal for my current project. And they get to be my NOTD because there are clearly SO MANY people in this world who are fluent in Welsh but don't understand a word of English, thereby necessitating the creation of a Welsh language version of every piece of work I've created in the past year.

  4. Everyone who speaks Welsh. Buncha nobs.
  5. I don't think you genuinely need to worry too much about whether your lid will go with your bike. All I was inferring in my earlier post is that you might look like a bit of a numpty if you bought a dualsport lid and weren't buying a bike that had a bit of an off-road look to it. That's why I had my white Sting for when I rode my GS and my normal black helmet for when I rode my little cruiser. ...Talking about my bikes in the past sense sucks balls.
  6. My Spada Sting has an almost ridiculously wide field of view. They don't make them any more but a couple of places are clearing out old stock so you might be able to get a good deal if they still have your size, but you could also consider the model that has replaced it, the Spada Intrepid. Benefits from the addition of a drop-down sun visor, so you don't have to wear sunglasses under the lid like I do You're going for a V-Strom, right? So it wouldn't look out of place with that bike.
  7. That sums up the BBC better than anything else I've ever read. Thinking I won't get a license at my new house, I only really watch stuff on Amazon Prime anyway. I used to love a bit of Top Gear when I was at uni but certain people complaining insufferably about it led to me not really watching TV any more. No great loss.
  8. Update on my NOTD, the bike was inspected today and the chap said he's going to recommend that it be written off against its full retail value, seeing as it's so well looked after High praise for a two year old Chinese bike with a good few thousand miles on the clock! Oh, an my knee seems to be gradually disintegrating as I refuse to take time off work and the doctor refuses to give me crutches to take some strain off it
  9. Interesting thought; if your bike has ABS but you've switched it off for some reason (say you've just been riding on dirt and didn't bother stopping to reactivate the ABS before getting back on tarmac), and then you bin the bike and you or the bike get wrecked in such a way as to prevent you switching it back on post-accident, could your insurers use it as grounds to refuse your claim? Even if the crash wasn't actually caused by a wheel locking but the investigator had sufficient grounds to see it as a possible cause?

  11. Did my DAS on a bike with ABS, first time I had to do a real-world emergency stop on my own bike (sans-ABS) it was a little pant-crapping So I figure better to start off without and learn how to brake properly without assistance then treat yourself to something with ABS, rather than the other way round.
  12. My logic on ABS would be: - Costs money that could otherwise be spent on bike bling - Reinforces bad habits - One more thing that can go wrong and be a bast*rd to fix - You will never know the satisfaction of locking the rear and managing to not bin it
  13. As mentioned in the other thread (this is confusing...), probably won't tag along unless my knee is behaving itself by then.

  16. I think that any bike with me on the back will be pulling a lot of unintentional wheelies But anyway, I'll see how m knee goes. Probably not a great idea right now.
  17. If not, I'd happily take a pillion ride Bob
  18. Just going to say this now mate; while hillariously awesome, the extra weight gained by bolting an air compressor to the side of the Kymco as a cheap bodge for forced induction is probably going to more than offset any gain in horsepower
  19. Vented textiles with removable thermal liners do a reasonable job of being all year round gear, I've found. But of course, using the same kit in all seasons means it wears twice as fast, so you don't really save any money. You just get a little too hot in summer and a little too cold in winter
  20. Awesome, we both bought Chinese bikes around the same time, we both passed our tests around the same time, we both bought unreliable first big bikes at the same time, and now we can be limping everywhere at the same time too
  21. Very tasty bike that, little bit jealous

  23. Holy crap! Not good, hope you're doing ok. My NOTD nomination goes to the owner of the CBR parked in the middle of the pavement outside of John Lewis on a Saturday lunchtime in a city full of free bike parking spaces! Hasn't even got the steering lock on... Hmm, I need a new bike...
