  1. I need to change the stalk unit because it failed MOT because the headlight switch doesnt turn headlights on! My daughters car, no idea what she's done.
  2. Anyone know how to get the C3 steering wheel off without blowing the airbag?
  3. 'A 2 km HOV lane was introduced on the eastbound carriageway (towards Bristol) of the A370 Long Ashton Bypass in March 2005, and operates during the morning peak, between 0700 and 0930 hours, Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays). The primary aim of the lane is to encourage more environmentally sustainable ways to travel along the A370 in preference to single occupant vehicles. Permitted users of the HOV lane are all vehicles with more than 1 occupant, buses/coaches and motorcycles.' Found this ... I suppose this answers my question. Happy days.
  4. No Shorty, I was thinking of the one on the A370 Weston to Bristol road.
  5. What are your thoughts guys. On my route to work in rush hour there is a national speed limit single carriageway road with two naes. Right hand for HOV traffic and a standard left hand lane. These lanes are separared by a solid white line. Now, on the way to work there are tailbacks adding 20 - 30 minutes to my journey if I stayed in line. I can't filter or overtake because the lane is too narrow to pass the stationary or slow moving traffic without crossing the white line. Would you use the HOV lane or stay in line without overtaking?
  6. bra or avatar? Bollox ... the secret is out!
  7. Would be difficult to qualify my action as either subtle or slow Good one! Just a small point - why does your avatar look like a weird bra? lol ... GOG. That bra is the healamps on my fz1. Ill search for an alternative.
  8. This just highlights how pathetic some people are (not meaning you Jacobyte!). If we played Germany and decided to wear a poppy, most people would respect the fact that both sides lost fathers, sons, mothers and daughters in the two wars with Germany. Throughout history millions have died because of wars and few blame the other countries of the world for the loss. The problems start when politics and religion, which caused just about EVERY war, get involved. Most German people don't blame us for their loss and most English people don't blame the German people for our loss- the people were just pawns for the respective governments. I am sure wearing a poppy would be accepted by most nationalities in most situations ... ONE or TWO make a fuss and everyone focuses on them. This is exactly what happens in the Muslim world. Most Muslims are great people but one or two set off a bomb and suddenly Muslims are bad. Most of us don't believe that but the few who do get all the attention. Not all terrorist are muslims but some people believe all Muslims are terrorists. I work with Muslims and they all happily observed the two minutes silence we had yesterday. Any controversy is created in the minds of people who choose not to show equal respect to all views.

  10. Well, I've given it some serious thought and I have to ask myself the question ... What window?
  11. That's the strange thing ... punchy I aint. I think I was a little rattled and it came out
  12. That's what it was ... I had to ride home stinking of beer.
  13. ... riding home tonight I have to take a busy A38 and evening rush hour sees bumper to bumper traffic for a mile or so. Anyway, three lanes. Lane 1 is a 24 hour bus lane allowing motorcycles, lanes 2 and 3 are stationary. I used the bus lane and on this 40mph road I keep it down to 30mph just to be sure. On the left is a junction and a car stops at the give way. He can't go anywhere but I keep an eye on him anyway. His brake lights go off so I roll back off the throttle and make sure we get eye contact ... we do and he pulls out across the bus lane and stops blocking my way. I had to hit the brake and stopped about a metre from him. Flip the sidestand down and get off calling him a f'ing knob. He shouted back 'get a f'ing car then you c@*t. Now my embarrassement ... I punched his quarter wound window and oops! it broke. Two guys who witness all of this jumped out of their cars and stoped the guy getting out of his car. He waas shouting f'ing wa@*ker broke my window. One of the guys helping said no mate it was already broke. I got on bike and got out of there. Not proud but I have to own up to my naughty deed. On here anyway. Might even report it just to clear my conscience.
  14. ... anyone with any experience of Shad as a make? Any good?
  15. No! ... She was a passenger in her sisters car ... only 16 at the time and it got hit by another driver giving her whiplash. She has just, October, got a pitence payout. I think that she needs to challenge that. According to that link you sent me, if I claim on my home insurance they increase my bike insurance etc!
  16. Look here Phooey http://uk-insurance.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/27/~/claims-and-underwriting-exchange-(cue" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) Under Is my information in CUE? HTH The first part makes reference to a personal injury claim where she has just got paid out on a personal injury ... could that be it? She was a passenger in a car!
  17. asked that and they replied with 'unfortunately we do not have the details of the claim. You will need to contact your insurers at the time'. And the previous insurer has confirmed there was no claim, so get that in writing, pass that letter to the new insurance company, problem solved!? In theory, Joe. But the current insurer is adament that she has to prove that there wasnt a claim despite telling them that her previous insurer has not claim on file .. they just keep saying the CUE - whatever that is - says you have!
  18. asked that and they replied with 'unfortunately we do not have the details of the claim. You will need to contact your insurers at the time'.
  19. He certainly will, Hoggs. was hoping he'd see it and volunteer a solution rather than me hassling him directly.
  20. Ok, my step daughter has recently (about 14 days ago) purchased insurance for her bike and today is in a dispute with them over an alleged no fault claim that is apparantly registered on a CUE register and the result of which has increased her premium by a hundred pounds. Now the problem is, my step daughter has never heard or made any claim fault or non fault and her previous insurers has no record of a claim either. This is a claim alleged to have been made against her in August 2015. Her current insurer is asking for proof that she has not had a claim made against her - and they won't listen! What is her best course of action please?
  21. Hi mate, it wont knacker your engine or anything. It will just mean that you'll get slightly better accelleration. You might want to chceck the accuracy of your speedo now though. I'm sure you might get a slight difference.
  22. YES or risk getting done for no insurance. Tax you'll pay from 1st of the month anyway but technically should be taxed before you take it on the public road. I'm not an expert on this but for me it's the obvious things like general condition. Is it clean or dirty? Do all the lights work? Don't be conned by 'Oh it's a bulb gone' it could be more! Fork seal ... is there any oil on the forks? If so the fork seals could be gone. Brakes ... do the stop the bike. Usual sort checks I'd make buying my bikes. I like disc locks. Others may not. A nice fat chain and chain it to something solid and fixed like a tree ot lamp post! All of these devises no matter how much you spend are only deterants and there is nothing on the market that will guarantee it not being stolen. Apart from wiring up to a 240v supply, which is currently illegal
  23. I would agree with bonio on everything here. New helmets are going to be safe even at the bottom price range £50 - £80. I wouldn't risk second hand. Once you get into the £300 + price bracket it's more about weight and sound proofing. If it is a noisy road I'd consider earplugs. Personally I prefer leather trousers, I dont find them cold but I feel better protected. Try fleabay! The most important question you asked is the boots ... for me DEFINITELY motorcycle boots. It would wouldn't take muck to smash your ankle to bits in a collision! As for which bike, ... you'll probably get as many answers as you get people answering! It is a very personal thing. Get what you like and feel comfortable on. Chinese? 'cough cough ... ' Personally, I'd nuke the factories that make chinese bikes but, if you like fiddling with them and keeping them running with seemingly constant repairs then go ahead and get one. Definitely cheaper but not necessarily more cost effective.
