  1. All of those seem to be ok GOG. Plus it had an MOT a couple of weeks ago, surely these things would have flagged up? I think i need a man with some knowledge to physically look at it!
  2. Tyre is brand new ... about 200 miles on it. Calipers were rebuilt last year. Wheel doesn't look buckled when I spin it.
  3. ok ..bought a front paddock stand and used my DTI to check disc run out. It is 0.2 mm which is bang on where the book suggests is typical. What the hell do I check next. Something is definitely causing the bike to pulse when braking and I am concerned that it is going to cause a problem. Especially now I am going to be selling it!
  4. Not always, if its a late registered model or on the change it can cross between them. What are you trying to order phooey? It is only the tailgate struts ... about £20. MK IV were too long so I orderd MK V. And yes, 2005 is on the crossover!
  5. I don't ... my partner does. I own an Audi ... lol
  6. This is the thing Bob ... VIN has G in it suggesting MK IV but the headlights are like MK V. It was only the tailgate struts at £20 or so, so I'll buy MK V and see if tey fit. MK IV were too long!
  7. OK ... my step daughter has bought a bike from Camberly but now needs to get it back to Bristol. Does anyone know of a reasonably priced delivery company that will collect and deliver it?
  8. I've tried all sorts, Hoggs, but it never tells me the Mk. I even passed the VIN number through as many sites as I could get it in but again, lots of info I knew but no MK!
  9. 2005 they made both the MK IV and MK V ... I thought hers was the MK IV but the struts don't fit yet her tailgate and lights are not the MK V
  10. My partner has a Vauxhall Astra Estate and I am trying to buy spares for it but I can't figure out whether it is a MK IV or a MK V It is a 2005 model but apparantly MK IV was made up to 2005 and MK V from 2005 onwards. I bought parts for the MK IV but they don't fit. I've tried putting VIN number and reg into search engines but nothing coming up. Any ideas how to find out?
  11. OK guys, I bought the DTI with the magnetic base and tried to check my disc runout. Apart from finding it difficult to keep the bike perfectly still with the front wheel off the ground, I am finding it impossible just to get the damned wheel to turn without it rocking side to side. Even holding it on full lock there is still some movement. So ... tips and idea's for checking the disc runout and holding the front wheel perfectly still would be very much appreciated.
  12. Brand new Pirelli's mate
  13. I just ordered a DTI and i'm going to check the runout myself. Bobbins were cleaned a few months ago and are solid. Calipers were re-build when I upgraded them last year. Haven't checked bearings but assumed it wouldnt get through MOT if bearings were gone.
  14. All the above fine Tim. Plus the fact, wouldn't any of these highlight on MOT? Especially headstock bearing?
  15. Ok ... for a while now the front brake PULSE when applying. This causes the front to dip and rise. Not too clever when braking hard. There is also a rythmic rubbing sound ... I'm thinking disc runout! MOT passed with no comment on the brake which I thought a little weird. Anyway, I assumed the discs were warped so I got a mate to run his DTI on the rotors. Right disc runout was 3 thou and left disc runout was 2 thou ... Not that then! Calipers are solid with no movement that I can detect. What do I look at next? This is doing my noodle now.
  16. Someone suggested I use Pecard Leather Lotion to soften my new leathers (jacket and trousers). This seems to be an American product. Does anyone know a UK equivalent?
  17. Pulled the old one apart and found the spring had come detached ... bar stuard to put it back on but managed it and now the switch works. Happy days. Back in for MOT Monday.
  18. No, Bob. It has a location pin that needs to be seated. I cant think of a way of improvising
  19. Thanks guys ... got a replacement ... the old one had something broken because the pin floated with no spring. Anyway, fitted the new switch and the brake light comes on but only when the lever is pulled right in - (i'd be over the bars by this stage with the fireblade upgrade calipers) - so, is there a way to adjust it? I can't see a way. I have a feeling the bloody MOT people will fail it again.
  20. Cheers for the confirmation, Bob.
  21. Just checking ... brake light doesn't operate with front brake. Rear works fine so not balb. Took connectors off and shorted across ... brake light works. Nothing else not working so brake light switch duff? Do you agree?
